I failed the NCLEX on my first try!!!

Published

I just took the nclex this past friday and today monday morning quick results FAILED. I feel so defeated and like the biggest LOSER. This is what i did and to be honest at first i was doing good but as the day got closer i started reading here what worked for ppl and thats when i started going all over the place. I purchased from Simple Nursing their nclex review for $275 which was good for content not for questions. It only had about 25-30 questions per chapter. I would study from 11pm-4am as I have a baby and a 7year old, but the baby is the time consuming not my 7 yr old. Anyway i have been studying for 4 months with no FB, IG and any other social media distraction even reality shows that i enjoy watching. Well i did a lot of content aa i really need it cs i was rusty on it. So at first i started doing the Simple Nursing for content after i would go to NCLEX4000 which i would do about 100-200 questions for the chapter i had reviewd. I believe if i would have kept doing this i would of maybe passed. But i don't know I feel maybe that i am just not bright, as i know that ever since i was in school that i was not smart. I have always studied 3 times more than any regular smart person. I have learned to accept it but this just proves to me that in fact i am not smart. Also i believe that u need support from your husband cs if you dont have it, is all this presure on you plus the pressure of needing to pass. I feel so so so defeated on top that your told that you didnt pass cs you are just dumb is so hurtful. But anyway now im so depressed and don't know how to study plus I dont have any money and I just don't know what to do.

After looking at your report, focus on the weakness and review questions and rationales; make mock NCLEX tests and start with the minimum and gradually until the maximum; you have to have an endurance in answering application questions.

After each "exam", make sure you are reviewing the rationales; any rationales you are not clear on THEN look up for content.

Thank you for your advice I'm waiting on my report to see what I need to work on

Hi KandiceM7, We are same story!! I took my pn exam on December 29,'14.I went over to 265 questions without breaks. The computer keeps on throwing me questions I got like 20 SATA till my last questions still sata.7 drag and drop ,2 EKG, 1 drug calculation, 5 exhibit and lots of medications that im not familiar with..Its horrible!!I FAILED.I received my CPR yesterday its all near passing standard except one above passing.

I used Saunders,Hurst, and anything I could find from this site. But I think I was not prepared for the test.

When are you going to retest?Im planning to take mine this February but still waiting for my ATT I guess after 45 days.

I plan to take it again soon as I can once I get my report and can focus on. my weak areas hopefully by end of Feb or early March. I am determined to pass this test

You will do it. Just get test strategies. Don't read the book about content. I mean mostly I hear that all is about priority type questions. So you need to know how to eliminate.

I am also on the same boat as you are took my Nclex on jan 6 and didn't make it any suggestion on how to study

Kaplan represent. told us today even review the other options by this way you will increase your content knowledge. He said not just look wrong questions. Check each answers for each q

When I wrote check questions I meant ALL the questions and rationales.
