I failed a math test :(

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

And I don't know what the heck happened. I knew how to do the homework, I aced the practice test, and then I failed the real test. And I had a practical exam for A&P1 today- I hope I did okay on it. I think I did okay. *crosses fingers*

Ok, I mostly just needed to vent about the math test... I started crying when I saw my grade online :( I think I'm just too stressed between work and school and family responsibilities....

Specializes in School Nurse.

What math class is it? Nursing or general college math?

And dont worry if you got a bad grade. Most people do on their first exam especailly in math, at least at my school! I know I did! I got a 76% on my first Clinical Calculations test which is a D in nursing school standards. but it made me realise that math is no joke and you have to know it forwards and backwards and sometimes diagonally! lol but just take some time and feel mad/sad about this, then study and work even harder on the next test! :clown::clown::clown::clown:

just general college math- algebra. I'm not in the nursing school yet.

Go talk to the professor, see if they have tutors (sometimes professors notice those who go in for help)

I am a second year nursing student. I am terrible with math, but I asked for help on this site, and I made it through my test. There are a lot of helpful people on here. They don't like giving you answers, but they will help you through the process to get the right answers. I am a mother of 3, I work 32 hours a week as an LPN (I have 35 long-term patients that I am responsible for) and I go to school 3 days a week (LPN-RN transition program.) Believe me, I know what stress it all about. Just take it one day at a time. Nursing school is HARD, I don't care what anyone says. But you can do it!!!!! Keep your head up. Let God lead you!!

Don't feel bad, math is one of my weak points and I know where you are coming from. I'm at a C average and that's not where I want to be,so I'm getting some extra studying in for my final exam to maybe get as close to a B average as I can, trust me all things are possible! You fail this time but there is always a second chance to redo the course, especially if this is your pre reqs into nursing school. You need to take a step back to see where you went wrong, was it not enough studying, too many work hours, or just not enough time to your work. Whatever it may be it's best to find a way to turn things around for your next shot at it! Maybe you can get a tutor to show you concepts that you are weak in and work to get better at it,don't be afraid to ask for help.

Thank you... I failed the A&P lab practical I took that day too. It was just an all-around bad day :(

I did email my math professor. She emailed me back that night and said I can take the make-up exam that she has made up for anyone who missed this test, so I should be taking that on Thursday. She said to get all of my online homework up to 100% (which shouldn't be a problem, there's not much). She also said to keep re-taking my online quiz for this chapter until I have at least an 80%, and as long as I study for the make-up exam and do the other things she said to do, a bad grade won't affect my overall average as much as I thought it would. She's also going to be offering extra credit in a couple of week that I can do.

My A&P professor on the other hand... she just said that the nonstop studying I did for the practical (which is why I did so bad on my math test, I failed at time management and neglected that class) wasn't enough. LOL. She just said I need to study even more.
