I'm surprised and shocked that you are having such difficulty.....are you getting the interviews or are you not getting even an interview. What does your resume look like? How were your grades, do you have references from school? Could you apply where you did your clinicals at and use someone from there to give the good word? I'm sorry this is happening, especially there,....that place is hopping with nursing jobs....my dad's girlfriend works north of Boston and she is doing very well. Let me know how this goes for you.

I can't believe how difficult it is to find a job as a new grad in the Boston area. I just graduated in May and I've applied for numerous Med Surg positions and nothing...any one feeling the same way:confused:
It was the same for us when I graduated over 20 years ago.
The year before we graduated, the class had more offers than
they could take! Keep getting your resume out there.Don't
get discouraged. It may take a little more time and effort,
but find a job that you are happy with.
PM me if you would like some suggestions just outside the downtown
area but within Rte 128.
Good luck!
Very Odd==When I worked up at the Brigham a few years ago, most of the nurses I oriented with were new grads and last fall when I oriented with UMASS in Worcester over half were new grads. Don't give up--many hospitals have new grad/preceptor programs and I believe that both UMASS and the Brigham had them. Try some of the job search sites they may help.

I am having the same problems too....I just graduated in May and taking the boards in July. I've had a couple of interviews...one at Beth Israel and one at Mt. Auburn...got rejected at Beth Israel and still waiting on Mt. Auburn. My grades were very good in nursing school and I actually worked at Mt. Auburn as a nursing assistant. I had to leave this past June to have more time to study for my boards, now I almost regret leaving.. I've worked there for almost 2 years. I've also applied to Brigham, NEMC, MGH (rejected me too w/o an interview), Boston Medical, Quincy Medical (got rejected for a couple of positions at BMC), and I haven't heard back from the ones I have applied to. Any advice?
They do not ask for your grades..I was worried about this myself but the nurses I know all said they never ask your grades, they only care that you passed your boards & got your license.
Do you you call the hospitals or just wait to see if they call you??? My friends sister works at Brigham & Woman's and they have the best benefits, insurance & pay for nurses out of all the boston hospitals. My cousin works at Beth Israel as an OR nurse & she's been there for years. She went to nursing school at Boston City Hospital years & years ago before it became BMC. Good Luck & don't give up!

Amen. I moved here in August of 2005 and had to wait several months just to get into one of those new grad programs.
Was worth the wait, though.
I work at Mt Auburn and 4 nurses just left. Have to be an RN. There are still 2 positions open though that I am sure of. It's a Med/Surg/Tele floor.Nicole
Hey there! I applied to Mt.Auburn..which floor Needham 3 or South 4??? I applied to Needham 3, and I'm still waiting for the nurse manager to make a decision. I'm taking my boards next Thursday.
