I am apprehensive about my NCLEX on March 28!

Published

Any good advice? Gonna take my NCLEX on 3/28/14 and I feel nervous and apprehensive.. I finished the Kaplan 2011-2012 reviewer and currently halfway through the Saunders 6th Ed book.. I feel like Im not progressing very well because I only get around 60% above on practice questions using Saunders.. I have only a month now to study before the exam.. Does anybody have any idea roughly how much percentage should I aim the least to max the chances of passing the exam? Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi! I am planning to test on 28th as well. I am doing Kaplan content and q banks as well as Q trainers, I have saunders but I used it only for few months and didn't finished it. I was told one of my friend that whatever materials are you doing for the test preparation try to read it 2 or 3 times, it helps our brain to understand better the content and the questions. Good luck to us! :)

Hey,

I test on Mach 18th and for the most part I was in the 60s with Kaplan I have Saunders but not really using it. I'm doing PDA which I was told has saved many people on the exam. I'm using the ATI nclex comprehensive book Kaplan an that's it. Trying to keep it simple.

Good luck to you both. Don't sweat it!!!

Keep answering more questions. I have the KAPLAN strategy book but you can't practice the decision tree with Saunders q&a because they are recall questions. Saunders is really good with content, I'm using it too. PDA by La Charity is really helpful too. Good luck! Keep us posted! :D

study more of strategy to answer the question by hurst review im currently using it.it's helpful I also use saunders, Kaplan, la charity.good luck to all of us....

I know you learned everything just don't forget the most important step PRAY. Good luck.

Thanks guys, your advices are all very helpful… Goodluck to all of us whose gonna take the NCLEX soon! Lets pray and have faith we got this.. Im currently at Chapter 59 out of 77chapters in the new edition saunders book.. Its a really good book, but I guess 2months to finish the whole book is quite tough for me,even though I study at home full time.. I hope I can finish this one week before the exam,so I can refresh and scan through everything in the final week.. I will keep you all posted, and will try to remember the questions for the benefit of others!

Absolutely correct! Saunders is great to brush up on content, while Kaplan will help you with dismantling the question so you can eliminate answers. I would recommend both and then the day before your test, try to relax and do something fun. Don't study the day before! Your brain needs time to recharge and it will help alleviate anxiety. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

It's really easy for people to say "don't sweat it" when they have already taken it and passed it. I'm sure everyone that has taken the NCLEX has had some sort of anxiety about it. I totally understand your anxiety, Maryjoii...I was where you are not even 2 months ago. This is a very important test! If it wasn't people wouldn't worry about it like they do.

I just took the NCLEX on January 31st 2014. I literally couldn't sleep a wink the night before. I cried all the way until I got into the parking lot of the testing center (which is a big deal for me, because I'm not a crier!) I was so worried because I had did the Kaplan Review and my scores weren't what I thought they should be. My "Readiness Test" score was only a 60% (which apparently calculates to a 89% chance of passing the NCLEX), my highest Q trainer score was a 59%, my Q bank score was a 53% out of 40% of the questions used.

I would come to allnurses.com for some encouragement and read old posts of what others had to say about their scores and would find that to be very helpful. But I have say, they were right about not worrying so much about your scores...If you know you've studied and done all you can do to prepare for the NCLEX, be proud of yourself regardless!

Also, although my scores were never what Kaplan wanted them to be or what I wanted them to be, I was still able to go into the NCLEX and pass on the first attempt with only 90 questions.

Good Luck to you, Maryjoii!

Aww! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for the encouragement.

I am truly nervous about this test, I am using Kaplan content book and the Kaplan strategies book, I finished both of them twice and answered q banks almost 100% but the q banks that I have is the old one (version 2008) because my friend just gave me that copy for free and I am so blessed because I cant afford to buy the online one. And also I downloaded the 7 q trainers that I found online and answered them except the q 7 and my scores are really not that great but I am really trying to do my best to learn more so I can pass this test. Oh right now I am doing the PDA la charity and after this I will probably repeat the Q trainers again and brush up with some important topics like EKG, labs, Infection control and etc. I truly hope I can pass like what you did!

Congratulations to you and God bless you!
