Hygiene More specific facial hair

Published

I have just been accepted to the undergraduate program at ETSU. I have not started classes yet but I am very excited and looking forward to starting my classes. My question is this every male nurse I have ever seen in real life and on TV do not have facial hair, is this the norm? I know that major league baseball has a rule that there is no facial hair allowed during any game. The reason I ask this is I have had a mustache basically since I could grow one. I have only shaved it off twice in my life once for a former girlfriend and once for my wife. I am wondering do most medical facilities have no facial hair rules or will I be lucky and not have to shave it off? I do keep it trimmed regularly though. I will be staying in the NE Tennessee area or Greenville, South Carolina areas if this matters. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Thanks to all who have responded. I have found that I will not have any problems with facial hair, as long as it is kept neat and trimmed. I wasn't expecting an answer until Monday since Friday was one of the orientation sessions. I was very surprised to receive an an answer on a Saturday from my adviser.

And to the ladies who responded I am sure you don't have a mustache like I do...LOL

Most of the best nurses I met in clinicals were men with goatees... just an odd trend.

i have a beard too.

and while nobody has said "boo" about it, i do get funny looks.

Both my school and now my hospital were okay with my facial hair so long as it was well-groomed and I passed the N95 fit test.
