I was unsuccessful on my first attempt on the NCLEX. I am thinking about taking Hurst's remediation, but just wondering if anyone has done so, and if you passed the second time around?
whats the difference between the hurst review course online and buying just a review book .whats the work book which everyone is talking about..can you please help me i will really appreciate that.
Hurst online is 300$ and it reviews core content. Hurst says it's all you need to know for nclex. A review book can be purchased as well... I have Saunders. Its good as a back up.
Well.... I did online hurst on my first attempted and failed with 120ish questions, maybe I didn't use the material correctly in other word I didn't master it like they want.soo.. I did remediation and watch the video over and over again and I was confident enough to do second try and failed again with 78 question...
just imagine what I feel right know....Iam devastating, confused and angry in the same time..
Iam trying really hard right know to stay positive....
my husband suggested to take live review maybe that will keep me focus, since Iam already student with hurst I don't need to pay in full other live review cost $500 and up...I just Finnish live review last Thursday....
I've been reading this website to find good strategy for me...
for last two try I didn't do a lot of question..
i like hurst I think I understand the material better, reading is not my best way of studying..
iam audio type of person for studying.I just don't practice enough with question...
this time around I signed up with ncsbn for question only will be finish this Tuesday...
I've been studying since jan 6th finish delegation la carity book and do between 75-100 (ncsbn)question every day after work and read 2 lectures a day from my hurst student book.
after I finish my student book I will do delegation la charity book 1 more time
i will schedule my tests last week February..
i will update you how Iam doing after the test...
ac2meang, your new study plan sounds great. is it possible that your husband or someone could hold your Hurst book & quiz you on the content (even if it just reading the content & asking to fill in the blanks), because this will really impress the material deep inside of you. not sure if you have the time to that, but it does help. i had a classmate of mine who failed nclex, like i did, and we both took the live Hurst review class & spent a 1 month quizing each other on all the on content in the book(including the mgmt & delegation/OB/Peds, before taking the exam again. that study session with my buddy made me so confident that it helped relieve my anxiety. also, during my exam, i read each question twice & sometimes on the SATA, i selected my options & meditated & made sure those options were applicable to the question & made sense, without any doubting.
for you, it sounds u may issues with reading/understanding the question when taking the NCLEX. if that is the case, then do questions/read rationales. just remember those questions are just practice & not a determination of how you will do on the NCLEX. thus, do not worry about scores on the practice tests. I will say with NCSBN questions, i have heard of young lady who use to keep doing each set until she got at least 75% on them. however, thats up to you.
further, please remember this NCLEX is a critical thinking and safety examination. if you think safety throughout the whole exam, this will help you, because if you come across a topic or situation you do not know with facts, you can then use your critical thinking skills to arrive at the safest option.
I am so sorry that you have failed it twice & I wish you so much success. I know its hard, but try to stay positive. You made it through Nursing School and you will make it through the NCLEX.
