Hey who's going to the New Grad Open House at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena? I'm going! lol. Just wanted to bring it up. I'm sure I'll see some of you there!

I plan on going as well. Driving down from the Bay Area. Have you heard anything about this open house from others? I'm drawn to it because of the on the spot interviews and job offers. I just wonder how this process will work because i am sure there will be a lot of new grads there. I'm guessing group interviews?

I am going to this open house also. Driving from the Bay Area en route to Disneyland, so I guess I will see you guys there. I am also curious about how they are going to do these interviews with so many new grads. I think 50caliber is right in guessing group interviews, seeing as how the event is from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.

I'm not sure. I'm from the Bay Area as well but I just moved to Southern California, since I have family here. Huntington is a beautiful hospital and Pasadena is one of my favorite cities, especially to shop! I went to Cedars-Sinai and they had hundreds of people as well and what they did was that they had all the managers at stations and when it was your turn to interview they called your name. I'm not sure how it is here. The manager at Cedars told me they had so many great interviewees that they didn't choose me based on where I was living , since they felt that I was more likely to leave after a year (I was living in the Bay Area at the time). So if you can maybe you can use another address, if not hopefully Huntington will go by how you do in the interview. Good luck to us! :heartbeat oh and just so you know there is another open house that same week at Hoag hospital in Newport Beach it is on April 13 at 5pm I believe.

Hoag hospital has something similar. Thanks for the heads up. Will definitely look into it. I found your address comment rather interesting. If it is advantageous for me, i may have to use a friends address in pasadena to increase my odds of getting hired. Thanks for sharing RnLola.

Your welcome! I was soo happy too when the manager from Cedars personally called me! Then she said the words "I'm sorry" and I kind of blanked out. Geez oh well wasn't meant to be.

I will be attending the open house..and hoping the address thing isn't an issue considering I am flying all the way from MN. I heard about Huntington Hospital from a friend and am really looking forward to seeing what it has to offer. In December I pretty much had a breakdown with all the hiring freezes in the Twin Cities area (And the fact that I live in a frozen wasteland) and applied for my CA license and started doing research on hospitals. The training opportunities just seem to be a lot better in CA...but the competition for New Grad Programs is just crazy. I figure I don't have anything to lose. If all else fails, at least I will be in weather warmer than 30 degrees for 2 days.

Has anyone actually asked any HR rep/Nurse recruiter about how the interviews will be conducted, or how the event will be organized? Maybe I should have called and asked before booking my flight. Oops.

No I have no idea how it will be organized, but don't worry, I'm sure everyone will have a chance to interview. Did you receive that phone number that came in the Open House confirmation? Call them and see. See some of you guys soon! I'll be the one with the RNLOLA035 sign on my back! LOL.

do any of you guys know if they will post positions for the new grad program on their website or do we have to attend the open house in order to apply? i rsvped to attend but i have clinic that day and we can only miss 24 hours.

yes they will post it on their website, as to when i'm not sure. you'll have to call them to see when.
