Hunting for answers

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello,

I have been hunting for answers to what the best next step for nursing school is for me & am having a challenging time.... I have been and LPN for 2 years & have my AA with all required nursing pre reqs completed...

Now I want to get my RN but am having a hard time choosing the best route. I REALLY want to go all the way & get my RN BSN but my gpa w my Associates degree is littered with Cs making it low to fair at best.

I've contacted the BSN nursing program @ UNF that I'd really like to go to & was advised that a low gpa will make getting in very hard & that my 2years as LPN will not affect being accepted....

The local state college w the LPN to ADN RN program (where I got my AA) is NOT where I want to go. Many students from the LPN program I was in went & highly do not recommend attending there.

I am DETERMINED to find a program that is a good fit for me with hands on instructors & a high level of learning as I am a much better student than in my younger years.

I am looking for advice how to find student reviews of Lpn to RN programs in the area, specifically LPN to RN BSN that are not predominantly online. Daytona State looks promising as they have an LPN to RN bridge that fast tracks you to RN BSN completion but I can't find reviews of the program anywhere.

Sorry for the copious information! I am just ready for the next step but very adamant on continuing my education at high-level school. I had some experiences at the schools where I obtained my AA & LPN degrees that I believe were due to choosing the most affordable schools & not those with better credentials. Any advice is most appreciated! I LOVE being a nurse so much. I do homehealth with special needs children & am very grateful I decided to get my LPN first to test the nursing waters, so to speak. I have a passion for my job & feel blessed to have found my niche. When I continue my education I want it to be a positive experience that increases my love & knowledge for the work I do.

From the name of the College I'm assuming you live in Florida so I can't give any specified Colleges you might want to consider, I'm in Ohio. However, I do strongly recommend you do a 1-2 year LPN-RN route at a community college due to your GPA. Most nursing programs are selective , especially the Universities that offer a BSN. Here's a site (StudentsReview : Nursing Schools) you can check out some student reviews of whatever college you're considering. Good luck on your Journey!!

Thank you for your time & advice!
