Hunter College admissions process/NLN Exam

Published

Hi everyone, I'm new to allnurses. I've been reading the threads throughout the past few months and like that there's an outlet for nursing students and nurses as well. I recently applied to Hunter College's accleerated program.

In regards to the NLN, I am scheduled to take it next week at another nursing school testing site (paper/pencil, not computerized exam) rather than Hunter. I had asked the director of the accelerated program but she referred me to the hunter nursing website (that was cold...).

My question is, I requested that my NLN scores be sent from the other nursing school to Hunter, but will Hunter accept them? I read on Hunter's site that you have to register for the NLN @ their test site, so i'm a little worried...

Also, I've already got a degree, so I started to forward all my official transcripts to the CUNY General Transfer admissions office in Brooklyn...Do I also have to send them to Hunter Admissions or their school of nursing?

Thanks much for your help in advance!

Also, did anyone take the NLN recently? How was it? It seems a little unfeasible to do 80 math questions in 60 minutes!

I can't really answer your questions, but I too am interested in these answers. I want to apply for NEXT year and have been in touch with the director. She was very short and to the point, so don't be disheartened! :)

Update folks - even if you dont take the NLN @ Hunter, they'll take your scores. So if you can find it at a cheaper place, go for it.

May I ask where you took the paper/pencil NLN exam? I'm not a fan of computerized exams...

Shaggybulldog - did you hear from Hunter yet? I also applied. I received a letter from Hunter but not from nursing...

also do you know anything about the change in start date to september?

I just got a email for a group interview next week...

meddle 44 - do you mind telling me what your gpa and nln score was when you applied?

no worries....3.3, 153

any idea how the group interview will be like and what would be the best way to prepare for it?

I have no idea what the interview will be like...just dress nice and be ready for anything I suppose

Applying for this year. I dont know if its me but this years test seemed difficult. I have never heard of half of the words and most of the science wasnt even in the review!

Just got a 134, about 3.5 GPA (accelerated)
