I recently accepted a RN case manager work from home job with Humana. Attend training in St Pete, Fl April 11 for 2 weeks. I've looked through post online and don't see any recent info... Anyone work for Humana? Advice/tips/opinions? Training info (facility, hotel, agenda, meals)?

appreciate your help!

Welcome! We moved your thread to our Case Management Nursing specialty forum with the goal of attracting some more responses. Good luck with this position!

Any ideas if they are still hiring? And where exactly in St Pete ... I can recommend some hotels to you if you need it.

I'm not sure if they are still hiring...you can search on the Humana careers site. Good luck to u!

I received an email today saying I would get info on the hotel arrangements next week. Apparently they use a travel agency to handle those arrangements. I was hoping someone on here had gone to St. Pete for training with some insight í ½í¸‰

Yep I work for Humana as a HCM RN. May 31st will be a year that I've been there. I trained in Ohio and the hotel was really nice. We had breakfast at the hotel and they served us lunch during training days. You have to pay for meals like dinner and food for the weekend so keep up with the receipts. Oh and they don't refund if you buy from a store. The training was good but fast. You will be working with a mentor when you get home. It's definitely a adjustment. It also has a different kind of pressure with this position. No we don't have to worry about orders, wounds, codes, etc. But we do have a matrix, number of calls to make each day which can be challenging. We sit A LOT! So get a treadmill or plan a walk on your break. Some days I don't even stop for a lunch. My desk at times looks like a covenant store lol. It's definitely different. It's no secret but they are merging with Aetna so no one is sure what changes that'll bring. Have fun in training. We had a blast. I still talk daily with the ladies I met there.

Thank you for sharing your experience... And for your honesty! I am really excited and really nervous at the same time. I've read through post on here (most are really old) and see lots of negative comments. Praying this is a fit for me 😊

What's your typical day like?? Hours, pro's, con's, what u wish was different? And any advice u have that u feel will make this transition easier. Appreciate your input!

Yes there is a lot of negative comments and I had read those as well but I'm a "have to see it myself " type of person. Hmm my typical day...grab coffee of course lol okay so I start at 8 and go through my emails, check voice mail, and then I look at my roster to see if I have any alerts like post DC etc, we get alerts and sometimes lots of them, the I look to see who is due for a call that day and check to see if I need to close out any member cases. Then more coffee. At 830 I start calling! I always chart the call after I am done. I work till 430 and call it a day. Notice I didn't mention getting ready lol? I work in what I find PJS or sweats. The pros is we don't have to work weekends or holidays and no on call. The pay is good, we earn lots of PTO, but insurance sucks. The cons? The insurance sucks lol, the numbers we have to meet is horrible and stressful. Another con is if a call takes a while you still have to meet the numbers period. I have worked over to meet them but we are allowed to flex our time which I save up for Fridays. Like this Friday I am leaving 1 hr early cuz I've worked over. I seldom take breaks due to staying on the phone. If I can offer any help let me know.

Specializes in ER.
