Nursing Students School Programs

Hey everyone, I just got accepted into the nursing program for Spring of 2022 and wanted to know if anybody else in here what's going to apply for the Nurse Corp scholarship when they open back up next year or if anybody has applied how did it go for you!???

Specializes in ABSN accepted.

The info packet states "All applicants, whether selected for an award or not, will be notified of the decision by no later than September 30, 2022." I've read a lot of people state that they had to secure funds at least for their first semester because of how late they found out.

I thought funding starts in July 2022? how that possible

Hi future nurses! I have another application question. IDK what specialty I want to go into as an RN yet. The application has a specialty question, but the drop down only has two selections. Either None or Women's Health are the options.. what did you select? Does it truly matter? I did see this Q&A in the Application Guide, however, it left me even more confused.

What if a Nurse Corps SP participant changes his/her mind about the type of nursing degree they want to earn or level of practice in which they want to serve?

Answer: The degree and specialty practice (if any) indicated on the application is the ONLY degree and specialty that the Nurse Corps SP will support. No changes are accepted to an applicant’s degree or specialty practice after the application deadline. The service commitment must be consistent with the area of nursing for which the award was made. For example, if you were awarded as a psych NP, you must provide service as a psych NP, and not as an RN or as an OB/GYN NP.

Do you think that's more for higher level nursing? For exampIe, you couldn't change from FNP to CRNA, or psych NP to obgyn NP like it states. I chose "none" - but good question.

It is very possible! Thank you for your prompt reply ?

Hi future nurses,

I just got admitted to a 12 months ABSN program for non nursing degree. I have previously attended a nursing program before but got kicked out in my 3rd semester for failing a course. I then decided to change my major so I could graduate. Long story short I used my BA to apply to a nursing school which I got accepted so I am starting all over again.

My question is this?

1. For transcripts should I submit my former nursing school transcript or just the one from my community college where I took my pre-reqs? I am worried if I submit the transcript from my former nursing school I may get disqualified when they see some of my nursing courses and question my failing the program. If I submit just my community college transcript then just my transfer credits will show. what do you guys think?

2. Where do you guys get recommendation letters from? I work as a PCA in the ER, so would a recommendation letter from nurses be okay?

Hi there! The Application Program guide (APG) indicates to submit your most recent transcripts, which would be the nursing school transcripts. Are you returning back to that school or a different school?

I am getting a recommendation letter from a colleague for my non-academic letter and a letter from one of my pre-reqs teachers.

That should be fine as long as they can cover the requirements for letter stated in the APG.

I am now at the 1st letter recommendation portion of the application. It says,

"The first letter of recommendation should be from an individual who can attest to the applicant's qualifications."

Did you guys submit the academic or non-academic person's email for this?

Thank you for your response. I am going to a different school this time. Definitely will look into getting a letter from a colleague at work and maybe my advisor from school. Thanks for the ideas.

@H3lloDubs I downloaded my essays as a PDF they stated that they wanted everything to be PDF format...

Honestly it's been a while since I've taken classes so my two recommendations come from two professional individuals that can attest to my character in working with the underprivileged community I didn't really have an option to use a teacher as one of them as I don't have anybody I can really contact anymore because it's been so long... And they did state that if it had been a while since you've been in school it could be from two reputable people and not just a teacher. I hope this helps
