Catching up on my CEUs, I just started a school nurse Module about HPV vaccine. How many of you educate about HPV vaccination to students and parents? Do you track HPV vaccination in your school? Seems like a taboo subject here at my school and I am wondering what I could do to change this perception.

I also talk about the vaccine in the sex ed classes I taught 7th and 8th grade this year. It is a voluntary vaccine, so I present the facts and mention to students they may have received it or heard their doctor talk about it since it is commonly offered around their ages. Almost every insurance company around here does cover its cost, including our medicaid program.

I am asked how many students received it in the annual vaccine survey I fill out for my state. I was actually surprised as the percentage of students who'd had at least one shot was over 50%.
