Hi,
My name is Brian and I am 27. I have just been accepted into a ADN program. I start in August. Any other male students have any advice for me? I am not sure if any other men made it into the program, or even applied for that matter. I won't offically get to met the rest of my class until the orientation in July.
My wife is a R.N. so I am hoping I'll have somewhat of a leg up when it comes to learning the material, but other than that, I am pretty wet behind the ears and I have no clue what to expect. I've been browsing these forums and trying to learn all I can.
Im lookign foward to this journey ahead, but at the same time Im pretty scared too.

Welcome Brian, and congrat's on starting your ADN program in the Fall. Being that your wife is a nurse, I'm sure she can give you lots of good hints for studying and clinicals. The main advice I have is study and have fun. If you want to get an ADN or a masters degree, grades will be important, so try and keep up with all the work. Nursing school is busy, but it's definately do-able. Good luck.

Congratulations on getting into nursing school! My class is 7 men of 47 students. I doubt you'll be the only one.
Enjoy it, study hard, be confident! I think the one thing I worried about that I didn't really need to was how patients would perceive me as a male nurse. I came up with all sorts of scenarios in my head about how they might be uncomfortable and ask me to not care for them, but it hasn't happened yet. Heck, even my OB rotation was a blast!
Yeah Im worried about the same things. Im glad I found this forum. I's hard to find out who will be in my class until the orientation since most students take their pre-reqs at diffrent times and with diffrent teachers.

I also am a male and have just been accepted into an ADN nursing program and will start in August. I am so excited! Please, if anyone has any pointers, they will be very much appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!
BTW, I need to have 12 s.h. to keep my full time status and my Nursing 1 course is only 8 s.h., so I have decided to take Spanish 1 which is 3 s.h. and some other class which only meets 2 Saturdays and then is over, which is 1 s.h.
Do you all think this is do-able and OK?
Thanks for the advice!
