So today My school registers for the fall. Thier ar 64 students and our school has paired up clinical and lab times into 10 choices with only 4 or 8 slots in each. Registration is 4 to 6, but Im scared it's going to end up like black friday. People have seen the choices and know what will fit best for them and I think they will line up early to get it since its first come first serve. How do all you schools do it? a lottery, do you get to pick at all, online ect? Thanks guys and girls!

We register over the internet and it's first come, first serve. So if we really want a specific clinical slot....we better register at 0400 when the registration site opens.

We register on-line and those with more credits from the college get priority and an earlier time. A first time student may not be likely to get the classes she wants especially with all the people returning to school after lay offs.
Online does seem like a good way to go. Our school doesnt allow 1st semester students to register online for any classes, but I think maybe they should make the exception for nursing (or other high demand classes) Seems like the safest route. I guess last year they did it during orientation and it was like a mad dash frenzy to get to the front of the line. So this year they schedualed it for a different day but i just wonder how long people will be lined up waiting...Thanks for the ideas!

Same as JROregon. Online registration with highest credits getting priority.
That's how the rest of out university does it....but with our nursing classes we're sent the CRN's of what we need to take each time. We don't always have a choice of which clinical group we're in...when we do have a choice, it's first come, first serve.

In our school, we have to go into orientation and we register for classes that day as well as ordering our uniforms. My orientation is June 1st and I can't wait!

For our nursing classes we had to attend a big meeting. The instructor meeting honcho randomly selected a number from 0 to 9 and so on, to determine order of pick. If 9 was picked first, and your SSN ended in 9, then you would get the first choice. The people who got picked last, were those who got what was left. I see this method as being a lot more fair than other methods. At least one had a chance to get the good picks.
