I've been working Oncology for 2-3 years. I'm trying to relocate and most of the jobs are PRN ER, Cath lab etc.. I have med surg skills of course but lacking on the rest. ACLS scheduled for next week...other ideas for getting experience to put on a resume? Thx.

It's usually who you know, someone who can put in a good word for you.

I got into ER by floating down there when I worked M/S (for holds) and making a good impression. I ended up hating it, but I'm glad I had the experience.

Oh shoot. I thought this was going to be about Segways. I can just picture myself riding onto my unit on one! Those things are so awesomely fun! I want one!

But anyway, back to your regularly scheduled post.

I would also suggest checking into the CEN exam, (certified ER Nurse) but you need at least one year experience. (It might actually be 2 yrs experience) can't recall... but if u visit the ENA website, u can get all the info u need. Good luck to you as u transition into the ER setting. It's a blast, as u never know who or what will roll into the door. Best luck to u! :)
