How Should I Approach My Last Few Classes

  1. How would you approach these classes?

    • Micro in Summer
    • Physio and Micro in Fall
    • Take the extra 6 months to finish

Hi there fellow allnurses, I could really use some guidance in how to approach my remaining prerequisite courses.

I have 3 remaining classes to take before I can apply to nursing schools out here in L.A.

I need Physio, Micro, and Speech. Other than that, I have everything (science and non-science) completed. I have been getting As in all my sciences, but I work really hard in order to get them - harder than most in the class. I am hesitant to take Micro in Summer, or Physio and Micro at the same time and doing one of those scenarios is the only way I can be finished with my classes in time to apply for Spring. And even if I was able to pull it off, I will have barely any time to study for the TEAS.

So, I guess what I'm asking is, do you think it's worth it to wait an extra 6 months to apply in order to (virtually) guarantee myself As in both Physio and Micro, or go all in, finish now and risk getting a B or less in one of the two?

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated!

If I were you, I would take both of those classes in the fall. PLEASE, do not take micro in the summer. I took micro in a 6 week course during the summer and it was brutal. There is just WAY to much information for that class. Anyway, time is money for me. I would take those two classes in the fall and just work EXTRA hard to get good grades. Good luck!

Will you be taking any other classes with Physio and Micro? Do you work?

Firstly, thank you both for taking the time to respond!

Simplistic: you just simplified part of it for me - I will eliminate Summer as an option.

ItsThatJenGirl: I won'd be taking any other classes, but I work/volunteer around 15 hours per week.

I think you should be fine taking them in the fall.

Good luck!

As you know, micro and phys are difficult and time consuming classes. Take the extra semester to to finish strong. What's the rush? You don't get extra points for taking summer courses or finishing early. I'm surprised your school offers micro in the summer.

If you're in LA, you know that public schools are competitive, and already the core science courses are heavily weighted. Take the time to make As so that you give yourself the best chance at being accepted into your first choice school.

I pretty much agree. Physiology (for me) was flipping brutal. I worked my butt off and earned a B. Micro, I took this class during the summer and found it manageable. I wouldn't want to take them during the same semester. I also worked full time with family.

But again, what's the rush? It'll all fly by.
