Nursing Students Post Graduate
Published Aug 28, 2008
Hi fellow students,
I know that some of us have started our NP programs this week. How does everyone feel so far?
I am having doubts myself about whether or not this is right for me.
Anyone else?

something finally positive...we had a review of the 2nd exam and folks brought up their concerns about a number of questions and as a result we were given credit on like 6 or so questions if we put a different answer than the one he keyed as correct (i.e., not any other choice, but one that is a reasonable alternative choice).
For example, there was a questions about what CN XII (hypoglossal) controls. The correct answer was something about not choking on a large piece of meat. However he also had a choice of chewing bubble gum, so he gave credit for that questions too.
Point being that my grade jumped a dime so now I'm officially passing without having to count on the non-test stuff to bail me out...yay. My stress level has just been cut in half for the time being--still some major things to accomplish though before I can look forward to starting my psych clinicals.

Hallelujah - just finished my statistics final paper. Just one more NO role prac paper and one patho exam left this term... yay!
well we spent our semester briefly addressing our hi/lo-lites and now it's come to an end; so any updates?
I got an A in 1 class and in the nightmare class I mentioned above I actually have an outside chance of getting an A, which is quite amazing given the fact that I failed the first test outright and the 2nd one until he gave us the extra points
Finished - waiting for my grades to come in!

Just had my final the other day - should get grades sometime this week. Woo Hoo - only two semester left to go - thank goodness!
Got my grades today - reasonably happy, but one of my big credit classes was 1 POINT (less than 0.5%) off an A+... bummer!

Ghillbert,
What school are you currently attending? And why did you choose the ACNP program over the CRNA program?
I'd LOVE to be a CRNA (more for the challenge/learning etc), but I'm Australian and we don't have them at all, so if/when I go home, I wouldn't be able to use it. We are starting to use more NPs though, so it will work for me there (I hope). Plus, I will be able to stay in the same program I'm working in now, once I'm an NP.

So it's the middle of my second semseter and I decided to look on the boards and found lots of replies to a thread I posted last semester that I wasn't aware of!
How are things this semseter? I am more convinced that this is right for me even though it's difficult at times.
Is anyone else having to do patient actor scenarios? I just did mine last weekend..stressful..but turned out okay. I still have my days when I feel like a total idiot. But overall, I am liking it better.
