How to reapply in NY state for NCLEX-RN retake?

Published

Hi I already checked all the threads but can't find the answer for my question. I just want to ask the procedure for retaking in NY state. This is my second time? Do I still need to submit a reapplication form and pay them? And what are the requirements? When I received the letter from them that I failed there was no re-application form, no instructions also stating that. They just mentioned the registration to pearson vue. I just checked the NYS education website and there's no form for retakers. Hope you can help with this. Thanks.

hi everyone! I just posted a thread about retake steps for NY nclex and thank god i found this post. So all we need to do is to register to pearson vue? Does the same fee still applies? Thank you for this. I am still grieving for my failed results but i know i shouldnt give up! not yet! :) best of luck to all retakers. :)

Yes, all we have to do is register in pearson vue. I called the board of nursing of NY sometime ago to find out what needs to be done when one needs to re take the nclex-rn exam again. The lady simply said that I need to register in pearson vue then wait for the ATT. She said our application is valid for 5 years. After 5 years we then have to reapply again to the Board of Nursing of New York.

You have to start all over again with your application and if you are an International nurse then you have to do CVS and looking at approx 6-8 months before you receive eligibility to sit NCLEX. I personally would suggest seeing as you already have eligibility to sit NCLEX from CA that you stick with it. Remember the exam is a national exam and doesn't matter where you apply the questions all come from the same pot.

thanks so much Silverdragon102 :)

hi! I read all your responses. I also failed the 1st attempt. I took it last 2005. Could I just simply call up NYnclex to retake or I have to register the whole thing again because it has been a long time ago since I registered for the exam.

I tried to look up my registration history in the website but it says it does not recognize my username and password.

Thanks guys for the reply

NY should say you paperwork and in that should be the instructions on the steps to resit the exam. You will have to pay pearsonvue again and have a new ATT issued

You'll have to wait for 45 days to retake it. After that, just go again to pearsonvue website and get a new ATT. Once you got your ATT, you can schedule yourself for another exam. No need to send a new application to NYBON. You just have to pay another $200(for ATT).

Hi. Can you schedule in Pearsonvue even if it's not 45 days yet? I'm planning to take it again in February. That's definitely over 45 days. My question is, can I pay now and just wait for my ATT sometime in February? I'm afraid that if I wait for the 45 days before I register, February dates will be filled and I have to wait all the way until March.

I want o take it again as soon as I can. The failure hit me hard and I look at it as a challenge. I know i can do it.
