How do you rate the HURTS REVIEW

Published

I am leading towards the HURTS review with only 3 weeks left to study. Any opinions in the program is very helpful. Also are you given a study plan after the live review?

Three weeks will suffice if you really commit to it. Like for me, I have to file a leave from my job just to focus on my review. They won't give you a study plan because that entirely depends on how organized you are. I did the 3-day lecture and then watched everything online again while also adding notes on the book that came with it and then the last week before my exam, I did the practice test everyday same time with my scheduled testing time (which is at 8am). I hope that helps. :)

Oh, I would rate Hurst as 8/10.

Thank you so much. Did you take the exam in 3 weeks also? How many hours a day did you study ? And did you use any other study guide besides hurst ? How many questions did you do a day? Sorry for all the queStionS. I'm juSt trying to create a Study plan for mySelf. So after I take the review I can get Started. Only have the 21 dayS and I really want to uSe it wiSely. I read the KAPLAN Strategies book way before I did the 3-day review and that's before the last week of November even without an ATT. I received my ATT first week of December then scheduled myself Dec. 23. I try to review whenever I feel like it and it takes me approximately 3-4 hours until I get bored. I also played around with Saunders both the book and practice tests. I try to answer up to 100 questions a day without interruptions and then read the rationale afterwards. If you take the Hurst review and you're done with it, take the practice tests one set a day.

Thanks for the feed back

I studied for NCLEX for three weeks (all in for three weeks, no going out, cheat days, etc.). I passed in 75... Here's how I did it.

1. Went to a university that really taught us how to critically think about nursing, gave us exams in NCLEX format and taught us above what was required to know to pass boards.

2. Took hurst live 3 day seminar.

3. Upon completion of hurst I studied the online components, videos, etc. I did not study the 5th day material except insulin.

4. I made a study plan and stuck to it this included what I would study that day, how many questions I would take and review and which videos I would rewatch. I did not watch all the videos in one sitting. My hurst scores ranged from 90-something to 108 I believe. It was a few months ago, I could be wrong.

5. I used Kaplan qtrainers 1-5, which I found floating on the internet for free. Scored between 70-85.

6. PDA by LaCharity- no case studies.

I would rate it a 8.5/10... Do I think I could have passed boards without it, definitely. But I think hurst does a good job of making connections between body systems, which was certainly lacking in my education. The best thing hurst did for me was prepare me for case study scenarios that inevitably appeared when I was interviewing for my first nursing job, hence the higher score.

Thank you. Was the qtrainer a online test or did you have to print it out? I have also heard about the Q trainer online but I can't seem to find it anywhere. How many Hours did you dedicate to study in tHe day for tHe tHree weeks?

I treated it (studying) as a full time job; woke up at 8, took 45-1 hour for lunch and decompression time and resumed until 6-7pm. Had dinner, watched a tv show or 2, and got a good night's rest to be ready to do it all again the next day. I studied everyday- even weekends... At times you want to give up studying because it is information overload but you have to push through it. It was well worth losing three weeks of my life.

I found them by simply typing Kaplan qtrainer 1, qtrainer 2 etc. in google. Q trainer 7 wasn't available. I didn't print the exam. I took the exam from the computer (good practice for NCLEX) and then graded them after I completed the exam with the answers and rationales provided at the end of the exam.

Thank you. I have a full time job that prevents me from studying all day because if I did not I would believe me :). But I can come home and put in 6 hours a day during the week like I did for nursing school then do my full time hours on the weekend. I can do this for 3 weeks it is a sacrifice I'm willing to make. I appreciate the advice so much. I found the Q trainer and I will do them also.

What percentage would be considered a passing grade for qtrainers 1 -5

"They"say 65% or higher on Kaplan is passing for boards.
