I am starting my last semester of NS and will graduate and test in May. I do worry that maybe I am not where I should be with the types of drug, dosages, side effects and pieces like that.
My program has drug questions on each exam and I have done pretty good on those. I worry that I am not be prepared for advanced questions on meds and only be tested on very basic stuff.
Not asking for an actual question, just the basic idea for a question
For prople who have recently taken the nclex what type of questions do they ask? How much detail? An example would help me to study for how they test.
Thanks

There is no way to be totally knowledgeable about every drug out there. Learn the basics about the different drug classifications and at least one prototype drug for each classification. Learn the suffixes for identification. If you do this, you will have a reasonable foundation for answering questions on meds.

I got tested all on drugs I had never heard of, except for 2. I did not get any of the drugs they told us during school and our required NCLEX review were "commonly tested on the NCLEX". The stuff I got were obscure meds I had never heard of, adn it was questions like your patient is getting x med, how do you assess it's effectiveness? Or, your patient is on X med, what do you need to follow up on immediately? Most of my drug questions gave no indication as to what condition the patient had, so you really need to know your meds. Also, infection control, prioritizing, adn get real comfortable with SATA questions!
