How did you pass the ANCC certification exam?

I've heard Margaret Fitzgeralds stuff is the best but seems like ANCC's stuff would focus more on the test content. I just graduated with my MSN FNP and want to get certified on the first try. Any suggestions?

I am waiting for approval to take it. Good luck with this exam. I hope someone can help us. What books are you doing for studying. I took ancc web course do not bother with this. All they do is read the power point slide and did not review theory at all. I was thinking about purchasing the ancc review questions??

Hey redwings! My orignal user name was anxiety queen. I know for a fact that I have over done it. I purchased Amelie's review book, took her class, bought the practice questions and review for the ANCC and I am still unsure how I should study. Orignally I thought that Amelie's class would prepare us for both howEver at the end of the class she said that for those who are taking ANCC we should also look at there outline which cver the theory and communication etc part

I'm lost

I am going to purchase the ANCC questions today. I will work on that. What do you think of buying the ANCC review manual? did the questions help with theory?? keep me updated. Etc :eek:

Redwings, there are only 50 practice questions in that book which cost 125$. However, I found the questions in the book more difficult than the one's on the site for 75$. So my question is what level of difficulty will the test give is?? If I could go back in time I wouldn't purchase it.

Hello everyone! I took the ANCC FNP exam today and was glad when I saw congrataulations You have passeed the FNP Certification exam. Scores, wall certificate, a wallet card, and pin will be mailed. God is awesome because I know thw I could not have done made it without him.:yeah:

Congrats! Now...Sorry if this has been answered already, but I have the Fitzgerald 3rd edition Certification Exam Prep book I got from Amazon for $50 and bought a used CD w/workbook (2010 version) also on amazon for $300 (I think it's more expensive from Fitzgerald's website). Using these resources and also reviewing the recommended additional resources at the end of the chapters in the review workbook, would that be sufficient? I plan to take the AANP cert exam. What's the difference between AANP and ANCC?

Hi! I took and passed the Family psychiatric NP exam last Tuesday!! If you haven't done so purchase and do the test taking strategies on ANCC site several times. This will help you weed out answers. I would suggest reviewing legal stuff, go on the ANA and review scope and standards of practice. The legal stuff, I am not sure where to review but I think that a book by Carolyn buppert is a resource for the exam, she is a APN and JD. She has a website you can google and maybe there is some stuff on there. You need to know when to consult with MD, collaborating MD, I had a bunch of stuff on that and bunch of stuff on research. I Just passed the AANP Family Nurse Practitioner Exam yesterday!!!!! I had 5 review books and only studied 2 books (Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination and Practice Preparation by Margaret Fitzgerald 3rd edition & Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Intensive Review by Maria T. Codina Leik). I just purchased the Margaret Fitzgeralds Audio CD's 2 weeks ago and listened to 1 CD a day - til test day- this was the biggest help. Good Luck to all of you that will be taking the exam soon. :nurse:
