I just started the job (well orientation) and so far LOVE it. I worked on a very very busy med floor in a teaching hospital and just every single change I got to practice putting in IVs,dressing changed on PICCS..etc..reading up on different medications, watching side effects. As long as you have hospital floor experience, you will train and learn the rest on the job. Good Luck!
I absolutely love infusion nursing. The specialty of infusion nursing crosses many other fields of nursing such as oncology, vascular access, interventional radiology, home health, and others. Many SNFs will hire RNs to become IV nurses which is a way to start in infusions.
Have you taken the CRNI?

I am going to work for a speciality office and they do provide their patients with IV therapy - I'm curious how one gains, knowledge, experience in this field. I know once I start I can discuss this with the practice, but just curious how others got their "start" in this area.
Thank you
