If you feel uncomfortable, then make arrangements to go to another case. Eleven out of twelve hours to be totally uncomfortable is too long. I sit for as long as I need to on my shift and I don't feel guilty about it. My patient care gets done just fine. If I were not allowed to sit, then I would leave the case. And my client's mother remarked to me one time that she noticed that I was constantly working.

When doing a 12 hour shift and standing on your feet for 11/12 hrs, how do you manage to take a break ? Do hh health abide by labor laws?
I have one case where I'm constantly standing, if I sit it looks as though I'm not doing anything...per family. So I'm constantly moving. Sometimes I just want a few minutes to my self. I also don't eat meals on my shifts because I don't feel comfortable and like to eat in private.
Any advice ?
