How often is recruiter to call?

I am a month into my very first assignment, and I have not heard from my recruiter in about 2 1/2 weeks. She told me she would call to see if all is well, but I kind of feel like she got her cut for placing me at an assignment and is on to her other clients. How often should I hear from her. She did not even tell me I had go take the BKAT:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire . I did not even know what a BKAT was until the DAY I TOOK IT:angryfire !!!!! SHe apologized about not tell me or sending me the "study guide" but she did not know I had to take the BKAT. Does this sound weird to anyone? Well, me assignment is okay. CVICU but I get all the chronics and NO fresh hearts. Is that normal for travel assignments? Every one helps if I need it but THAT IS IT. NO small talk or getting to know me, so my nights are kind of lonely at work. Just venting. Any feedback?? THank you!!

Usually recruiters will call you once a week, and they should call atleast once every two weeks... or atleast send you an email.

Some hospitals are more friendly than others, but it does seem kinda strange that no one is interested in small talk and finding out about you.... never been to one that didn't have a plethergy of questions.

As for the assignments, I have never received different assignments than the other nurses. If you are qualified to take the fresh open hearts, then you should be getting them.

I hear from my recruiter more frequently during the beginning of an assignment. Like once a week for the first two weeks. lol After that it's spotty. It does sort of feel like I've been forgotten at times.

I have worked in two Recovery Units so far and at the first one it was all chronic all the time. The second one I got fresh hearts and fresh extremely ill, complicated surgical patients. Both in the same city. The first hospital had a large number of seasoned nurses. The second one had many new grads. I haven't yet been to a third to "break the tie" and see which way it goes. Obviously I hope it's not all chronic pt's.

As for your fellow workers. Don't sweat it. They probably just need more time to get to know you. Don't forget that right now you are a stranger to them. They probably don't talk to you any more than if you floated to another unit in a hospital you already work in.

I really don't plan to hear from my recruiter, until it is time to re-sign or get a new assignment. It's nice that she calls for nurse week or my birthday, but I certainly don't expect to hear from her all that often. After I go over the what or wheres of the assignment, and as long as all is well, where is the need?

Part of it, is in many places, the less that you hear from the manager, the better off you are. As such, as long as I do my work well, I really am fine that I do not hear from work.

What is that you need for her to discuss with you? Have you tried calling her? How often do you want her to call?

Sometimes they take their cue from you as to how often to call.

I represent my wife as far as recruiters go. She calls me her agent!! lol AMN recruiter we have calls near he end of her contract and about the first week or 2 of the beginning. After that I told her not to call unless it effects Deb's job that we would call her if we need anything. She appreciated that . We feel as though she has enough to do trying to place other nurses and she doesn't need to make small talk . She dos call on nurse s week and birthday.

Now if we can get all the other 50 recruiter(why I'm her agent) who call to stop that would be great!!! lol Never fails they call when she is sleeping or at work.
