How much OT do you do?

Curious...just how much overtime do you all work? I'm not talking about what you ask for it, but when THEY ask you for it?

OT at our hospital is after 40 hours irregardless of how many hours you were originally scheduled. I am parttime...24 hours a week but about once a month end up into overtime, more often at 36 hours. I work ER, we try to trade off to get time off because we are such a small staff. I will always trade or work extra to give the other nurses time off. If I don't have plans, will come in if called at the last minute, if I have plans, I don't. Simple to me. The extra money is always welcome, the extra time off is too when I am not called. I have been in nursing 30 years, get tired, but know how I feel when someone is willing to give me a few days off. I have alot of loyalty to my facility and even more to the team of nurses I work with. I have worked here since 1975. We have been way over extended for the last month with the flu outbreak...I will do what I can to help the other staff and the patients out.
