Nurse for 20 years
Past 12 in home health
Now in QI for a VNA in Mass.
Rate $25.40/hr
I agree the Texas rate is amazing!
Sounds like the "old gals" group I'm in (20+yrs)are not working hospital much. That creaking sound is my back when some bright bulb got rid of our orderlies who did the heavy lifting and instead made us primary nurses instead of team. Just meant you were "on your own girls!"
Depressing is see such range in hospital pay across the country.

Wow, it might be worth moving to Texas! Do you know what LPN's make? I have been an LPN for 27 years, worked peds, nursery, now pediatrician's office.

I work in Ontario Canada- and we are unionized
I just started work last month.
With in lieu of"s, shift diff, I make approx. 23.50 hour. After eight years it rises to approx. 32.00 hour and our contract is up. I work part time- but many part timers can make over $60,000. year.

I would like to say I make more than most RNs. I do.
HAHA how do you like that RealNurse HAHA
Fact MOST RNs are lacking in common sence.
Fact MOST LVN know what is going on we just need a book smart
RealNurse handy to use (like a carpenter and a hammer) If you knew or saw half the stuff I have done or saw, my well-being would be taken.
I have worked with many brillant RN's but the schooling that they recieve lacks in TRUE pt care. Most of them have never turned a pt but they were good leaders:cool: :D

Where are you getting these "Facts" from, that one of the rudest and ignorant thing i have ever seen postd on this board. If i had $1 for every time i had to cover a LPN's butt for lack of knowledge or sheer incompitance i could retire! Let me ask you this, when a patient is going bad, do run and get another LPN or an RN?

Kewlnurse, I truly understand your anger at progeria's comments. I also felt they were rude. I can only say I hope he/she has a better attitude(and grammar!) at work. I have to point out though, that many times I've had both RNs and LPNs come to me for help when a patient is going bad. Also, I have gone to other LPNs for help as opposed to certain RNs when a patient was going bad. A seasoned RN once told me, "I don't care what kind of alphabet soup you have behind your name, it doesn't mean you know sh*t." The majority of RNs & LPNs I've worked with were excellent, but you always get a few bad apples.

I have been an LPN for 8 years. I have been at my current job (LTC) for 6 years. My base rate is $19.04 plus 8 bonus hours a pay period for perfect attendance. Insurance is expensive. Working weekends, many extra responsibilities. Nurses have long been overworked and underpaid!!!
