Would like to know what a CRNA really makes. Are you in a group, working for a hospital, or working for a doctor. What is the most profitable, group vs. hosp. Does this vary from state to state? How much can an new to experienced CRNA expect to make. Thanks for whatever info you feel comfortable in sharing.

No, believe it or not it isn't all about the money.

I'm amazed when the AVERAGE NATIONAL salary is $185k. (http://www.aana.com)

Some of the CRNA's in the hospital I work for are making as little as $60,000/year. It all depends on the location, and what type of position you take.

I saw one position listed on www.gaswork.com for a CRNA in Oregon, starting at $110,000/year with 8 weeks vacation, and 2 weeks payed educational leave, no call, and no OB.

That pretty much is my dream job. Now we will see if I can get into school.

Reflecting their level of responsibility, CRNAs are one of the best paid nursing specialties.

According to a Merritt Hawkins & Associates study from 2009 the average salary for CRNAs was $189,000

Salaries are coming down. Latest 2011 salary survey is $169,000 on average. Too many new grad CRNAs out there. Had a friend just get offered a sub $100,000 job offer. Her student loan debt is about twice that.

This years AANA annual salary survey put the average CRNA salary in the 170Ks. Jobs and money all depend on what part of the country and city you work in.

Does your salary reflect the school you went to? Or in other words does a "better" school tend to earn you a higher salary?

I would look for a more unbiased source than locumstenens.com. :)

The only time the school seems to matter is when you are applying to independent practices (which usually offer higher salaries). A lot of nurse anesthesia schools don't prepare students to work outside of ACT practices/work independently.

I recently shadowed and the CRNA supervisor at a Pittsburgh hospital said new grads start at $55/hr. That's more than twice what I make as a nurse but Pittsburgh is unfortunately low in all health care salaries. Some big company runs the show around here

I made 55 an hr 20 years ago. I've not heard of anything lower than around 90 an hour. I would not work for anything less then 100/hr.

Of course, I've not paid any attention to poor practice states.
