How much did it cost for your ADN?

Published

I will be attending college in the Fall. I'm taking 4 classes (12 credits) and its costing 2100 plus 400 for books. I figure it will cost me around 20,000 to get my ADN. Just wondering what it typically cost to get your degree. I will be attending community college in PA. Thanks, Jennifer

Yours still looks good, if you take 13 credits for $585 that is still only $45 per credit, right? We still have all those lab fees, general fees, etc. too plus books. I'm still doing prereqs right now, so who even knows what the fees will be once I'm in the program. But regardless, your tuition still looks pretty good to me!

I believe I paid a total of $6,000 for everything at the community college. That was about 3 years ago. I am paying 12,500 for my BSN via an online univeristy, and the tuition includes all of my books.

:balloons:

Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to apply for Financial Aid for this year,
Well, it shouldn't bee too late. Yes, the priority deadline has passed, and it *might* be too late to apply for Pell Grants, but you should still be able to get Stafford Loans (which is all we can get anyway). I applied in Jan or Feb of this year for *fall and spring* of last year, and it was still okay. Fin Aid office folks were less than gruntled, but hey, they weren't writing the checks! Don't assume it's too late. Yes, you will have to pay first and get money back later, but you'd have to do that *anyway* if all you get is loans.

Wow, I'm going to community college and its $165 per credit this semester. I live in PA. Where I used to live in MD I could have went for $75 per credit. I just moved in December, maybe I should have stayed longer.

At the University the credits aren't much more, like $245. I plan on going there after my RN because the have an accelerated RN to MSN program.

Thanks for all the responses.

I hear that! At least you can show him this thread so he can see that you have it prettty good!

By the Lake, thanks for the financial aid info, I'll look into that!

I graduated 12/04 from palomar community college in the San Diego, CA area. Tuition cost me nothing thanks to the BOGW fee waiver (low income guidelines). Books/uniforms cost less than $1000 for all semesters I think. I love California community colleges, they have a lot of free/low cost stuff available. I COULD have qualified for EOPS and gotten free childcare stipend AND free books AND free food had I not already had a bachelor's degree. Because of that I didn't qualify. Even without the BOGW fee waiver, California residents pay about $24 a credit.

I don't think I would pay $20,000 for an ADN degree, I'd just go for the BSN.

I'm taking my pre-requisites at our local community colleges here , the cost per unit here in northern california, san mateo to be precised is $26/ unit not including the books. so far the cheapest i ever bought is humanities but most of them cost more. CC is cheap but the waiting list is long , some of classmates are going to private school $ 23000 not including book on which i haven't close that option yet.

Nat : :thankya:

The School that my friend is attending now is in san rafael,Yes it is private school. He was a LVN and pursuing ADN, he was not accepted to the program of CC and don't have a patience to wait for a year on which the CC is doing a lottery every year only. From what i heard from him the passing rates from that school is not that great but he said it was from the individual who is taking and studying the NCLEX. :)
