How many of you have sought additional education?

How many here went into nursing with a BSN or ASN and sought additional education towards the nursing field from there? Were you successful? Did you have plans of this manner and then realized working as a nurse was too much to put school on top of? Did your hospitals repay your tuition fee's if you passed classes?

I started with ADN, then did BSN and MSN with hospital's tuition reimbursement program. I also got Master's in Adult Education. Yes, I am glad I did and yes, part of it was because floor nursing was too hard. I HATED 12 hr shifts

When I graduated from high school, my stepfather was laid off from the airlines. I had to pursue my nursing education through a local hospital-based diploma program. I had always wanted to complete a BSN, so I waited about 9 months after graduation and started a program. I am currently working on a MSN in nursing education. It was hard (at times) to go to school full time and work full time, but I did it with my diploma program so why not during my BSN program? The BSN program I went to offered 3, 5, or 6 weeks courses, which allowed you to take one at a time. And, I did receive some money for tuition reimbursement through my employer.

RN 2007, BSN May 2010, and I hope to start on my Masters in Nursing Education this fall. Paid for the whole thing myself, minus a few state grants the first time around. Unfortunately, I've never had the luxury of "just going to school," and have worked full-time the whole time. Education has always been one of my loves, and I fully intend (God willing!) to complete my doctorate within the next five years.
