How many semesters is it taking you, or how many are you trying to fit your pre-requisites in? I am trying to do 3 while applying in the 3rd. One of the schools i'm applying to you don't have to have the pre-req's completed before you apply you do however they need to be completed before you enter the program if accepted.
How about you guys, how many semesters will it take you? At what point do you think you will be ready to apply?

At my school, the program starts in the fall, and you apply in January, AFTER you've completed pre-reqs. I plan to have mine done in 4 semesters, in time to apply for fall 2013.

I can apply before my pre-reqs are complete but I work full time so I've been taking 1 lab class per semester. Total it will be 3 full semesters, 2 summers. If I don't get into my first choice program, then I'll take another semester of classes for pre-reqs other schools require.

I am taking my sweet time. I usually only take 2 classes a semester as I also have a job that keeps me pretty busy. To me, knocking out all of my prerequisites is a priority before applying because it will 1) increase my ranking among the applicants 2) make nursing school much much less hectic and 3) allow me to spend more time studying "the meat and potatoes" of my soon-to-be profession.

I will take 4 semesters (Fall, Spring, Summer, Fall) to complete my pre-reqs. Application will go in this Fall for January class. My school also works the same as yours; I can be in the process of taking pre-reqs when I apply, but they have to be completed by the start of the program. So I will be finishing up my last 3 pre-reqs when I submit my application.
I had no credits at all so I've had to take several classes at once, and I work full-time. It's not easy. But I'm too impatient to stretch this out any further than it needs to be. :)

My school will allow you to take prereq's once you enter the nursing program. However, many a students have recommended that you finish them before entry into the nursing program. This is my plan to have them done and over with. As far as prereq's are concerned I was taking two at a time. Now I have moved on to 3-4 classes. I can't apply for the nursing program until Fall of this year. I started school Jan of last year. It seems like forever!!! Ugh! I can't apply to the program until I have had A&P 1 done and I'm taking care of that this semester. We used to have a Spring semester but now that is a bridge program for LPNs. Soooooo...I'm just chugging along!!
