How many questions on ATI Fundamentals Test

HI, I am going to be taking the ATI Fundamentals test for advanced placement into an associates program. I completed 3 semesters at another school, and had to leave during the 4th semester. Another school is going to let me do advanced placement. I have been out of school for 1 year and I covered so much material. I am trying to gauge what materials are not covered. I took the practice test and did pretty good without studying and just going off my past knowledge. I have to score a level 2 proficiency on the Fundamentals test. Can anyone tell me:

1) How many questions are on the test?

2) What score would correlate with a level 2 proficiency?

3) Are Peds and maternity covered in the test?

Please help!!!!

Thanks

My program uses the ATI, so I know a bit about it.

Fundamentals is what is supposedly covered in a first-term intro to nursing class. However, ATI has some odd ideas about what gets covered in intro classes - such as the pediatric vaccination schedule. Apart from that, though, there's no peds or maternity on the exam.

ATI tests are 65 question multiple-choice tests on the computer, and you get a little over an hour to take them. Level 2 proficiency varies for each test, but generally the cutoff is somewhere in the ballpark of 70-75%. Since you have access to the practice tests, review what you don't know after taking one of them, then take the other and repeat the process. After that, if you're doing alright on those, the actual test should not be much of an issue.

Out of curiosity, where are you transferring into?

Hi I am really nervous about ATI testing for my fundamental class this is going to be my first ATI testing. I was wondering if someone who already took fundamental ATI testing and can suggest me to the area where to focus more or any other tips that helps me to pass my ATI in first time. I would appreciate it!

I have taken it, I think it was about 60 questions. It did cover some peds, but basic knowledge... I thought there was a lot about safety and of course, what is the highest priority. I just got some codes off of ebay and there are a couple extra practice tests, which helped me this semester. The more tests you take gives you a better idea of how the tests are and helps you understand the rationales behind the questions. Good luck!

Thank you wojcl6466. Is there anyway that I can use those codes and practice some test?

There's not any specific area to focus on. You need to read the entire book and do your online practice exams. This method has worked for me every semester. The Fundamentals ATI covers a wide range of topics, but is pretty basic as far as ATI's go. Good luck.

I took the Pharmacology, Fundamentals, and OB ATI tests last week and passed them the first time. I highly recommend doing the practice tests and reading the book. I did not have time to read the book but I did look over the bolded parts. =)

I took Fundamentals 2007 form A two weeks ago. It had 60 questions on it. The current national mean is 69.9, so I believe that is the Level 2 minimum at this time.

Good luck!

This test is nothing close to being a "fundamentals" test. In our program we are required to take just the practice fundamentals test in first quarter. We can retake it every 48 hours and have to get a 90% to pass. Because of this, they want us to start taking it right away. So, some of us jumped in for the first try at 3 weeks into the quarter. I believe I got a 63%. This test contains information that we will learn over the course of the first three quarters. Information about various treatments of diabetes, IV placement, g-tubes, drugs recommended for various things. It had questions about types of education for diseases that we, of course, know nothing about. It was a complete joke. The only reason we are able to pass it is because they ask the same questions every time so after a time or two you remember the answers. I have no idea what the point of it was.

The only reason I was even able to get a 63% is that I had done the module on ATI that explains all about NCLEX questions and the best way to understand them. I learned alot from it and this helped somewhat in reasoning out answers to questions that I had no clue on.

Taking the practice and taking the real test are two different things - and how are they able to limit you to once every 48hrs on the practice? I've retaken them within 20 minutes.

I will agree, that the fundamentals test doesn't correspond to any fundamentals course you or I would ever take. However, a 63% wouldn't get you level 2 proficiency, which is what my program requires to pass any class associated with an ATI.

Yes, I know that a 63% wouldn't be passing. I couldn't possibly believe that after 3 weeks in the nursing program you could pass this with our 90% required. I don't really know how they make it so you can only take it every 48 hours. It's not one of the regular tests listed in the "skills" section though, where you can watch a lesson and do the pretest then posttest. Each time you take it you have to enter in the code. Maybe it tells them when you last took it and they won't count it as passing unless its been 48 hours? I have no idea.

Forgot to add- ours requires a level 3 to pass, 2 is remediation. Our first proctored exam isn't until next quarter.
