How many programs/schools are you applying to?

Published

Hello fellow Pre-Nursing Students!

I was curious to know how many programs/schools you were applying to? Just your top pick or a couple of others as well? I'm thinking of applying at least to two programs. Do you think that's too risky - may not get into either of them?

Thanks in advance!

I'm planning on applying to only one, at the moment. I'm going the community college route for my associate's and all the local programs are highly competitive and prefer to choose from students that did their prerequisites at their school. The way the application cycles work at my school, I'm confident (with the proper test scores *fingers crossed*) that I'll be able to get in, if not wait-listed to start the following term.

I will be applying to 5. Three local to me (in Toronto) and 1 still in the province and 1 on the other side of the country. Maybe I am meant to go on an adventure, haha.

Im in New York too, so competitive! I hope to get into a Jan 2017 program also. Good luck to you!!

I'm applying to 3 ABSN programs: 1 local to me and 2 in state, but not local at all. 2 RN/ADN Programs: 1 in the county I reside and the other 1 is next county over (just for fun, they don't take out of county residents unless they exhaust ALL qualified candidates, sooo...).

This year applying to the Community College Consortium in my State it's 3 schools. So first choice not picked if room in the other 2 placed into their programs. Was going to apply to an LPN program as a backup next Spring, but the State funded programs are done away with. So planning to apply to a State BSN program and maybe 1 ABSN program if I qualify in regards to prerequisites.

Then the year after 2 State BSN programs, the CC Consortium, the Rad. Tech program, the PTA program, 2 Private ABSN programs, a private LPN program, and maybe a Direct Entry MSN program. By then if nothing on to something else.

Hi,

I applied to 6 nursing schools this year (transfer student). I was rejected/waitlisted to 5 nursing schools and was accepted to 1. It's 1, but honestly, that's all I need. I was so discouraged this year, I almost threw myself into a for-profit college for nursing. Fortunately, I was accepted into Nazareth College in Rochester, NY for their BSN program (Spring 2017). It's funny because I sent an email to admissions to double check if I was accepted directly into the clinical portion, and they said yes-- LOL thank god. I'm glad I waited, and I couldn't be happier.
