How many programs/schools are you applying to?

Hello fellow Pre-Nursing Students!

I was curious to know how many programs/schools you were applying to? Just your top pick or a couple of others as well? I'm thinking of applying at least to two programs. Do you think that's too risky - may not get into either of them?

Thanks in advance!

I'm only applying to one program and I think I have a pretty go shot of getting in. For my program they base it on prerequisite grades, teas score and prior work experience. I hit high on them all so I feel safe

I applied to three schools. One LPN and Two RN programs. I got accepted to the LPN and one RN program. I think you should apply to as many schools as you qualify for and that are in your vicinity. Within a reasonable commuting distance. I did not get my first choice RN program so thankful I applied at the other one that I got in.

*Also Nclex rating, professors and curriculum would be important in your selection of a college.

I planned on applying to 6 programs, actually applied to 4, and was accepted at 2 (one conditionally, one full-acceptance). Fortunately the full-acceptance program was my top choice school.

I was planning on only applying to the school that I really wanted to go to and if I didn't get in apply for more than one when the next semester rolls around. I noticed every school around my area has slightly different requirements to get in so I didn't want to waste time getting all those requirements finished if I am lucky enough to get into the school I want the first time. I will see later if I regret this decision, haha!

Just one. There aren't a lot of BSN programs to choose from around here. I think there are three, and the other two colleges I'm just not interested in attending.

i live in new york.. and all together for the start of jan 2017, I'm applying to 8 programs...

I applied for one BSN and one ADN program for Spring 2017, both of them required the HESI. If I don't get into either of them, I will take the TEAS and apply to some more schools and reapply to the first two again for FALL 2017 start

I live in a pretty rural area so I don't have lot of options. I'm applying to the only traditional BSN program here. I'm currently completing my prerequisites at the community college and will be applying in the spring semester God willing.

I'm applying to all the schools I can because where I live all the adn programs are lottery. There's only one BSN program that's close enough to commute to, I'm applying to that and 4 ADN programs. If I get into the ADN program I want to and the BSN I will probably choose the ADN program because it's so much closer to me and it's the school I took most my classes at so it's familiar.

I'm only in my first semester of pre-nursing, so I'm not applying yet, but when I do, I plan on applying to a few. I definitely have my top pick that would be my dream to attend, but I'm adding a couple others in the area just in case. I'd apply to them all, but unfortunately application fees can be $50 or more! So 3 is a good number.

As long as you have a good GPA and good HESI or TEAS (whatever you're required to take), I wouldn't think only 2 applications are risky. Good luck!

Applied to one, accepted to one.

I'm planning on applying to only one, at the moment. I'm going the community college route for my associate's and all the local programs are highly competitive and prefer to choose from students that did their prerequisites at their school. The way the application cycles work at my school, I'm confident (with the proper test scores *fingers crossed*) that I'll be able to get in, if not wait-listed to start the following term.
