I am thinking about applying to 3 nursing programs next year in case one or the other doesn't accept me. I was wondering if anybody has applied to multiple programs at a time or more than one program in general before they were accepted into a program? I am also casting my net out wide because the first three programs I am considering have different NCLEX pass rates, GPA requirements, and Teas score requirements that could change the out come of my application. What is your experience applying for and being accepted into your nursing program?
It does seem like you have to jump through hoops to get accepted to some schools. At my school it wasnt so much having to keep jumping through hoops, but the whole PROCESS they send you through:-applied to the program then
-had to wait to be INVITED to take that frecking hard TEAS V test then
-had to wait another month and a half before I could take the TEAS
-had to wait another 2 months for them to decide who were the best canidaites to interview
-then 1 month after the interview they made decisions on who they wanted in the program.
I was soooooo happy I got in on my first try because I didnt want to retake that TEAS test again.
I thought you could take the Teas test and use it when applying to any nursing program(without re-taking it) almost like a transcript. Either the ATI website itself or one of the programs I am applying to compared it to a re-usuable transcript.
I think it depends on the school. I have seen some schools require that you take the TEAS only at their school. Others won't let you retake if you took the exam on another campus. And some do want you to wait until they "invite" you to take it. So I guess it depends on where you look. Wish some of this stuff was more standard!

That's good that I read that now because I was thinking of studying really hard and taking the test this year instead to get it over with and have one less thing to worry about. Argh, I guess that means now I have to put all the stressful things together and wait to take the test when I am already going through the stressful application >.
CNA1991 the reason I said that about the Teas V retest is only bc I thought that my Teas score was going to get my cut from being accepted. I didnt score that high on it but at my school they focus more on GPA then teas scores, but you do have to at least score proficient on the test at my school.

I applied to the local university and got in, but when I made the decision to do nursing I applied to the CC program and got in. So... I think the answer is I just applied to ONE nursing program.
