Just wondering, because I've heard both as in: 'LTC is better than nothing' and 'LTC will be a like a black cloud hanging over your new career.' I am something of a new grad RN working in LTC.and a SNF. I would strongly prefer working in an acute care setting for reasons related to my disposition, personality, time managing capabilities, and values.

Don't matter, 'cause they aren't calling GN's in my area either. :)

I haven't been told that it counts for nothing but I have heard it can make it harder to transition into the hospital setting.
Can I just say that if all nursing is/was like SNF/LTC work, then I don't wanna be a nurse anymore. I had a night from hell. Thought I'd be nice and pick up a shift at my 2nd job... and had to deal w a bunch of jerk fam members bc some norcos were a few min late. The pt was practically doing cart wheels 2 seconds after I gave the dam norco. The freakin son was taking notes and acting like he was gonna sue over a slightly late pain pill... wat a jackass. I would be ashamed to have raised euch a disrespectful sob
