How long will it take to Get my BSN from Chamberlain college of Nursing if i Already

have my AA in the general education requirements. Would I be able to go right into clinicals. I live in Jacksonville fl and want to do travel nursing. I haven't ever wanted to just be in one hospital the next 40 years. I Also want to do natural medicine because im seeing what these new pills are doing to the people around me and the patients I come in contact with. I know that's a mouth full but to recap I need answers and advice to these:

1.if I have my AA how long will it take at chamberlain to get my BSN

2. does travel nursing require I go to some big university, b/c I continuously hear horror stories about waiting lists.

3. those of you have are already nurses and working in hospitals, how did you get hired on, im hearing "its who you know" and "you have to get in good with HR" and "you have to have had done a lot of volunteer work. I am a CNA, Will that give me an edge?

4. what are some pros and cons of travel nursing, has anyone traveled abroad??

1 - Unless your general education from your first degree involved microbiology, A&P (I&II), psychology.....the sciences, really....you would likely have pre-requisites to take before being enrolled in the nursing program itself. You really should talk with an advisor at Chamberlain to see what it is you're lacking, and go from there.

2 - No. But it DOES require you to be experienced in the area in which you would be asking for travel assignments. A facility that is taking you from an agency for a specified term is going to orient you to the unit, but not nursing in general. You'd have to put some time in to start with, gain enough exprience to be valuable for an agency, and then sign on with an agency.

3 - Nursing is not an easy field to break into, especially not currently. The "it's who you know" comes in because there is so much competition for jobs once you finally graduate. Yes, being a CNa *might* give you an edge, but really only if you're applying to the facility you already work in. In which case, if they like you as an employee already, you're more likely to get a chance at an RN job later.

4 - I'll leave that to some travel nurses to answer :)

I have all my sciences done and all the other gen. ed. complete as well and I know I will have to get experience as a RN first at least 2 years before traveling, bc I know they sort of throw u in expecting u to hit the ground running with no supervision. thank you RNsRWE

Chamberlain's program can be completed in as little as 3 semesters, depending on how many classes you take in each semester.

A semester has two 8 week sessions or terms. If you take 2-3 classes per term you can do it in that time frame. Best wishes to you
