How long did you wait to take your NCLEX exam?

Published

I am currently a nursing student and will graduate in December. How long after you graduated did you take your exam? I want to have time to review all the content but I feel any longer than a month is too long to wait. Input please.

I graduated in June and took my nclex first week of September. So almost 3 months of studying. Passed in 75. Depends of how well you utilize your time but I wouldn't suggest waiting more than 3-4 months after graduation to take it.

I took it 1 month after. Passed in 75. Most people I spoke to took it the month after graduation.

They say students do well 6-8 weeks after graduation.

I waited 9 months, barely studied, passed the first time. so....... I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the actual time. If u got it, you got it.

I waited 3 months to do intensive studying. I passed with 75 questions. I wanted to do all I could to make sure I didn't have to take it again. A lot of people who were in my class took it right away and passed too. Only one person in our class of about 30 didn't pass.

It also depends on when you get cleared from the board of nursing. Not sure if it's the same everywhere, but in CA, you need to wait to get your ATT (authorization to test) number. Only then can you sign up to take the test. For most of my classmates, this took around 1 month, but apparently it varies depending if they're busy.

Hello! I took my NCLEX RN after 10 days of studying. I did not have the luxury of time to wait any longer as I couldn't be off work for longer than 10 days. I used Uworld exclusively. Good luck and early congratulations!
