How long did it take for you to hear back from Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program ?

U.S.A. Tennessee

I applied at Vanderbilt Medical Center for the January 2010 New grad Residency program:) I was curious how long it took to hear back from them after the deadline. The deadline was today and I wonder if I will be hearing something this week regarding the next steps. Any advice and info is helpful. Thanks.

One of my friends just went through the Summer 2009 program but I have not been able to get a hold of her to ask her some of these questions. As far as I know you go through the rotation period and then you pick your top three. The managers take your top three choices and then try to place you in one of those areas. However I am not sure what they do if they don't think you fit in one of your top three areas. I definitely would not want to be placed in an area in which I would not enjoy working. I will let you know if I hear back from my friend. Last time I talked to her she raved about the program. She said it's a great place to work.

She did tell me that during the 6 weeks of rotation you have two classroom days and two clinical days on the floor.

Angel,

That's so intense! It's such a bummer to work so hard and be met with a birck wall of sorts! Have you had your interview yet? Let's hope mid-November comes quickly!

If you read the FAQ on the website, it sounds like you may get placed in an area other than your top 3. I'm sure, from the sounds of it, they would try to put you in a place that would meet your strong suits, etc, even if it isn't your top 3. I think it's just more important to be on a unit that is a perfect fit for everyone, y'know? It sounds like that's what they try to do...

Vanderbilt is not the end-all, be-all.

Alright... how do you delete a post? :p

I can't get rid of this one!

is anyone else pulling their hair out waiting on the response from ? the suspense is killing me. it seems like the weeks are dragging. this is awful. am i the only maniac freak here? lol. have any of you guys stumbled across other opportunities? seems like everyone dissappeared once they started interviews. lol. :D

I'm just trying to stay distracted and praying lots... but if it weren't for that, I'd be doing the same!

I am feeling the same thing as both of you. I'm like, "Is it November YET?"

Does anyone know if we will receive an email one way or the other? Or only if we're offered a position?

No ****** said that EVERYONE will hear something, whether it's a Congrads or a Thank-you for applying.

Is anyone else playing the "What if?" game in their heads? Lol. Like....what if I didn't answer the question to my fullest ablitly, what if I could have given a better example, what if my answer wasn't what they were looking for, and the big one...WHAT IF I DON'T GET IN. When I left my interview I felt good about it, now after thinking about it and breaking it down....I don't feel the same.

yea i'm the same way. I mean there were so many panel members so really whether your answer was liked or not depends on the opinions of the panel members. Like maybe something you said wasn't liked by your panel members but would have been liked by different panel members? It's just kind of strange. It seems very random. I keep going back to my original application because the interview is only worth half your total score. I know that my application isn't as strong as others because of my GPA so if they don't think my interview was great, I won't get chosen. I guess we will all know in a few weeks. If I get chosen I just don't know what I will do. I'll be so dissappointed if I don't but I am trying to prepare myself for the worst.
