How long did it take to get your Florida license?

Published

Hi all!

So I am getting ready to embark on an incredible journey...Travel Nursing! Eeeeekkkkk! I'm so excited!

So I've submitted my Florida nursing license by endorsement (from Alabama) application to the Florida board of nursing. I've requested that the Alabama board of nursing send verification of my licensure (to Florida). I've taken the 2 hour, prevention of medical errors class online. I'm getting finger printed on Monday!

After you completed all of the requirements and submitted all documentation, how long did it take for you to receive your Florida nursing license?

Thanks in advance for responses!

Sincerely,

Overly excited, ER, soon to be, travel nurse 😋

I'm not telling you it's going to be easy, I'm telling you it's going to be worth it.

@Noahj:

I actually currently have 4 recruiters at reputable agencies I am talking with who are quite satisfied with my one year of ER experience. I have more of a medical background than just 1 year of nursing though, which adds to my resume. I also have 4 friends who have within the past year started traveling with 1 to 1 & 1/2 year(s) of experience and they are doing quite well and enjoying their travel experiences with reputable travel agencies.

I was asking how long it took to get a Florida license after all documentation had been submitted. If you have valuable insight on this topic I would love to hear it.

Again, I would never advise it and never talked to a recruiter who would. However, I haven't spoken to them all I guess.

A year as an RN is barely a start. Traveling is great, but it's still doing the job of nursing 3-4 days a week. Hope it turns out well. I've been to Hawaii to Alaska and a few places in between, traveling. With and without family, as well. Message me any time for questions.

And to stay on topic, I went to school in Florida and yes, takes a week or so to get that license.

Thank you for your concern and the offer for advise. I know as a baby nurse I don't know everything and that I'm still learning. But I do believe I'm a hard worker and have developed skills this past year as a nurse that I can use and gain even more knowledge as a traveler.

I'm dedicated to my profession and would never do anything to shame or harm the name of my profession. I know when to take a step back and ask for help and also when to ask questions. I think as a travel nurse I will only grow and I'm excited to do so.

Congratulations! I am going to seek licensure by endorsement in Florida after receiving my California license. Best of luck in your nursing career! :)

Does Florida require verification of ALL licenses or just the original state of licensure? If it's all licenses, will it be longer than a week to get FL license if some of your states are paper verification (such as the dreaded California one, which by itself takes 2 months to get verified)?

Currently I have 4 state licenses, all active. Two are Nursys states (including my original state) and two are not.

Florida only requires your original state of licensure. I got mine in a week so not too bad :)

It took me 2-3 business day after everything was submitted. Very quick I want to say 2 days but I be safe and say 3 days. The only thing that took long was fingerprinting, I had to go from Canada to USA ink to electronic

Hello, where did you do the finger printing here in Canada? I'm in Montreal

Hello, I did my NCLEX in California but don't have a license there. I have a NY license. Do I still need to submit verification from California?
