Are you a recent grad? And if so, did you apply for a nurse residency program in Orlando?
I graduated in May of '14. I've had a year of ER experience in a Trauma II center hospital. No. I'm not applying to a new grad program in Orlando. Looking to travel to Pensacola, Florida.
I'm not telling you it's going to be easy, I'm telling you it's going to be worth it.

Have you been in contact with a travel agency? Coming from someone that's done local per diem and traveling, 1 year is not a lot of nursing time to start traveling. I've worked with several agencies and I haven't come across any reputable that doesn't require at least 2 years.
I didn't start per diem and traveling until I had 5 years. Even then, some assignments were demanding. Honestly, 1 year is not even the tip of the nursing iceberg. I'd be shocked and concerned if a nurse with 1 year experience were even granted an interview with a nursing manager.
@Noahj:
I actually currently have 4 recruiters at reputable agencies I am talking with who are quite satisfied with my one year of ER experience. I have more of a medical background than just 1 year of nursing though, which adds to my resume. I also have 4 friends who have within the past year started traveling with 1 to 1 & 1/2 year(s) of experience and they are doing quite well and enjoying their travel experiences with reputable travel agencies.
I was asking how long it took to get a Florida license after all documentation had been submitted. If you have valuable insight on this topic I would love to hear it.

Hi all!
So I am getting ready to embark on an incredible journey...Travel Nursing! Eeeeekkkkk! I'm so excited!
So I've submitted my Florida nursing license by endorsement (from Alabama) application to the Florida board of nursing. I've requested that the Alabama board of nursing send verification of my licensure (to Florida). I've taken the 2 hour, prevention of medical errors class online. I'm getting finger printed on Monday!
After you completed all of the requirements and submitted all documentation, how long did it take for you to receive your Florida nursing license?
Thanks in advance for responses!
Sincerely,
Overly excited, ER, soon to be, travel nurse 😋
