  1. Dam I was thinking of joining but it seems so difficult, I went as far as getting a green card, so if I apply for a spot for October it might take the better part of 2016? I really want to join, I have no idea what I am doing here, don't understand any of the terminology
  2. It's been several months since working in Canada!
  3. Hr hires after a manager approves of the job, the manager would know if a spot is open and what they are looking for, I still say go to the manager ask, if they don't give you any specifics go to hr and see what they say
  4. I would say, go into the hospitals and talk to managers, make an apt to see them discuss their needs, your skills, etc. good luck with the job search
  5. I would like to know as well, I am practicing in U.S. But educated in Canada
  6. Born northern Manitoba, went to school U of Manitoba, just moved to Rockledge, Fl with my family
  7. I took the pvt immediately after my test (10 min) and got the good pop up, I passed
  8. Personally I did it this way the first time (heartcode) with no prior knowledge and I work on a telemetry unit. I think it's a good program
  9. You can call the hospital that is hiring you to give names of who they recommend for ACLS certification, you can also do part one one line and then do the skills at a facility that offers heart code
  10. It took me 2-3 business day after everything was submitted. Very quick I want to say 2 days but I be safe and say 3 days. The only thing that took long was fingerprinting, I had to go from Canada to USA ink to electronic
  11. I did the exact same as you, did CRNE in 2014 though, passed the NCLEX april 16/15 at 0900 hours, here in Canada. I found that there was a lot of SATA question and even more medication questions and ECG strips. I passed at 85-90 questions. I did the PVP trick immediately after i finished, got the good pop up, on the following monday I had a licence number in NM, now currently waiting to get endorsed into FL. I found that PDA, Kaplan book and saunders books were good. There was the 30 page booklet that i used and some random person posted another 18 page study aid that actually was the best. It described the priority questions and which type of sequential order type questions, which I had. anyways good luck with your future endeavours and if you dont my me asking which state are you planning on going to?
  12. I did mine with Mn, took about 3-4 day including a weekend for ATT
  13. Well I did telephone interview, kinda say it went well, got offered another interview at the "hiring fair" they recommended; med/surg respiratory unit in Holmes medical centre, any input as to what I can expect? Thanks
  14. I feel ya there, same with me, I worked a full-time job, in 2 years I only had mothers day weekend off, worked every holiday possible to get out of poverty and school. I worked 12 hour shifts friday-sunday nights then went to school/clinical monday to friday. I come from a life where nobody graduated high school, a lot of alcohol (im alcohol free) I had to raise 3 young boys. I am very proud of where i am now, I passed my classes with B/B+ sometimes an A. My family was homeless (for 6 months, housing arrangments fell through) when I was in school. My employer never asked me if I failed any classes or what was my GPA when hired, now work as a charge nurse in acute medicine.
  15. I notice that there is a hiring fair at the end of April (week of 27th) anybody going? I got a phone interview and hoping to advance to the next part. I and looking at the Palm Bay, Rockledge, Cocoa Beach area. Anyways I hope that I get to see some peeps
