Im new to the state and want to apply for the LPN programs and I wanted to know how long does it take to get the card back. You have to have it before you can even apply to the programs. Thank you
I want to get my fingerprint card done now because I'm trying to reach an application deadline but in my case I'm going to get my CNA and for the certification application it says I have to use the specific fingerprint card that will be sent to me once my CNA class is finished. Why is that do you think? I'm trying to apply for October deadline for Gateway LPN and my CNA class finishes early October, so waiting for the fingerprint card to be returned in time is cutting it close. Suggestions por favor!
Ask the school you are getting your CNA training at to give it to you early, like now. I'm taking the CNA class in August at RSAA and they did this early for me. Since you will be the one paying for it, you should just do it when you can. BTW, mine came back unreadable and I have to have them done again, so don't wait.
Good luck!
I'd recommend getting your fingerprints done somewhere that uses the digital scanning technology instead of the old-fashioned rolling your fingers in ink then pressing on paper. My first set got rejected due to fuzziness/ink distortion. My second set was just fine. I got the second set done at a place that rolls your fingerprints onto a scanning device with software to predict if they are clear enough to be accepted.
Mine took about 2 weeks to get in the mail, but DPS already has my fingerprints on file because I have a CWP, so I'm not sure if that could have sped up the process. A colleage of mine had to wait about 7 weeks but she had never been fingerprinted by the state before. We both applied about the same time.
If you have a law enforcemnent agency do your fingerprints on a fingerprint card you can send them to a company who will scan the fingerprint cards. If you go to ana agency who has the webcheck system (FBI & BCI) they will be sent electronically. The results are usually sent within 14 days to the board of nursing or where ever you request them to be sent. If you have a criminal history your background check may take longer to be sent - up to 90days. Most questions can be answered on the Ohio Atty General's Website - look for WebCheck.
I received my DPS card after about one week. We were told to allow 8 weeks.I suspect that those who have never been charged with a crime get their DPS card right away, in about a week. I think it's those who have had a criminal charge or conviction that take up to 8 weeks for verification and processing of court documents?
I did have to send in two sets of prints, though. DPS rejected my first set because they said they were not clear enough, so I had to get re-fingerprinted.
I have never been charged with a crime and mine took around 7 weeks, they mailed it back to me and then an additional 8 weeks.
