How long did it take to finish pre-req full time??

I just wanted to know if anybody finished their pre-req yet and if so how long did it take to finish them...what about if your goin to a community college??because i was told that the only pre-req classes i have to take before i start the nursing classes are...English 001, BIOSC 005, 006, and 0014:confused:

I hate how long my prereqs are taking! I could basically have my Bachelors in anything else by the time I get my RN. I had to go 3 semesters and 2 summer 8-week courses to take:

A&P1

A&P2

Microbiology

Nutrition

Sociology

Comp 1

Comp 2

Psychology

Biology

Chemistry

American Gov (For some reason my CC makes Gov required for all majors)

Intro to Film (Again, my CC makes you take 3 humanities credits...)

Yoga (It's another pre-req!)

College Algebra

So I started last Sept ('07) and I'm applying this December. Hopefully all my hard work paid off and I'll be accepted into the '09 fall nursing program.

Phew.. nursing pre-reqs are tedious! I feel like we should only need to take A&P 1+2, Nutrition and Microbiology... but that's just me.

General Education + nursing prereqs at at least 11 units/semester without (including winter and summer courses) took me 2 years for an ADN program and 2 1/2 for my BSN program (which I eventually got into).

My nursing program has 9 prereq courses. One I had waved because I already have a BA. All my sciences and math have to be taken over (it's been more than 5 years), and my psych's because I took human development courses and sociology the first time around and they won't accept those. I'm taking two this summer and then two courses each quarter. Spring '09 will be my last quarter.

Hi, I just joined the forum today after 2 weeks of sidelining the site. I think I've read a post from you before. Sounds like pre-reqs for Solano Community College? To answer your question: Yes, those are the pre-reqs. However, as Jess6 has stated, how much time it takes does depend on the pre-reqs for the pre-reqs. You can look at the schedule of classes on solano.edu and backtrack to see what you'd need.

I actually just applied to Solano myself...and as long as my math credits are applicable to Chem, it'll take me 4 semesters to complete the pre-reqs (and their pre-reqs). From what my friends who are currently/have completed the program at Solano have said, it's a 2-year wait list. Best case scenario would be to get right in once you've completed your pre-reqs.

You could schedule a counseling appointment to have school-specific questions answered. Otherwise, they recommend you attend one of the RN workshops. I believe the earliest one is Sept. 8th, but I was told I'd have to call back to confirm the date/time. Maybe I'll see you in some classes!

yea this sounds about rite...it took about 1.5 to 2 years to complete for a BSN
