How long did you study for the CPNE?

The ATL review place is pretty nice, but I actually prefer Rob's Review. He is so good that Excelsior actually sued him. Lol (I know that was a copyright issue, not the actual viability of the content). Some do both sites. But the general consensus I've found is that the study guide Excelsior gives you is absolutely horrendous. I've been with Rob's site since November and he's been making things much more clear to me. You need at LEAST 2-3 months of CONSTANT studying to really nail this down. Some can do it in 1 month. If you can pull that off and be 110% (not just 100%) that you're ready, go for your date. I recommend putting your name for cancellations, they seem to come up a lot each month.

It was 10 months from notification of a CPNE spot to the actual CPNE. I did Christy's Clinical Boot Camp and it was worth every penny. I had read the manual over and over and still had so many questions. Being a visual learner this class made everything clear for me. I also purchased a few rounds of Careplan classes.

I had a lab in a spare bedroom with all of my props, a big teddy bear as a patient, and a "grab bag" of AOC's to practice so it would be spontaneous each time like the real CPNE. My husband was my patient as the date of testing approached and he was able to give me useful feedback as he'd watched me perform scenarios so much. I did 2 scenarios 5-7 days a week, did all of the lab procedures 3-4 times a week, and wrote practice care plans 3 times a week at minimum.

I passed with one repeat. (A stupid mistake that was so obvious that I was embarrassed. Nerves.)

I am from Upstate NY and awaiting a date for my CPNE. Been studying and looking everything over to get my feet wet and would be open to a study buddy, video chat whatever. I had a study buddy for the cardiac portion of the courses and right now can not remember the name of the online class but had to repeat it but thankfully got through it. I am a little intimidated by the CPNE. Alot of time and money invested in one weekend. I am ready to move forward with my nursing career and trying to decide what I want to buy to prep for the CPNE and if I want to do a workshop. The costs of everything are a concern. Anyhow I can be found at [email protected] if you would like to contact me.
