So, after years of school, living through the NCLEX, and four days of butt-flattening classroom orientation, employee health diagnosed me with shingles on my very first day on the floor. There is a hospital policy that I cannot work until the lesions crust. I've done some searching but can't find this answer: What's the average amount of time between eruption and the vesicles crusting? I'm lucky that today is Friday, but I really really REALLY want to be back at work on Monday.
TIA,
Jen
I just finished having shingles AGAIN! Fourth time in about 7 years, and about 3 months after I got the shingles vaccine to hopefully prevent recurrences. Though most people's recurrences can vary around the body, mine have all been up my neck and into my ear and scalp.
My mother always said I never had chickenpox (obviously incorrect) and my titers were equivocal. All I can say is get on antivirals asap. And yes they are linear not circular vesicles, following a nerve path.
Thanks for the kick in the bootie. Today is Sunday, my PCP isn't open, but I will make an appointment with him first thing in the morning. Sadly, I just moved across the metroplex so it's going to be an hour drive, and I haven't found a new one yet. I appreciate everyone encouraging me, otherwise I would have just tried to ride it out.
