How long is orientation for nurse new to ED?

Published

When I got a job as a new grad in the ICU my orientation was 4 months long. I have never worked in the ED but am considering it and just wondering what is the average length of time for orientation of a nurse who is new to the emergency department? (not a new grad)

Thank you!

its 3 months for new grads or new to the ER. My place has split up acuities so you rotate to every area for about 3 weeks each. most places arent like that.

I got 6 weeks. In the "war zone". And they put me in the "war zone" right off orientation too.
