Hi, I know i'm an idiot and should have done this sooner, but I'm going to become a new RN student in january and the its due by monday of next week(12/12/16).. On the website it says it takes 1 day to get approved, can anyone confirm or give their experience with NSO?

Why are you worrying about insurance before you graduate? Wait until you actually have a nursing job before applying for the insurance. Approval is immediate, so get the insurance once you have a job offer.

A lot of nursing schools require students to carry malpractice insurance before they can start class. Mine did.
OP: if you need it on the 12th, what the heck are you waiting for? Go to the NSO site and go get it now!!! The sooner you apply, the sooner you will be approved. And you will have coverage once approved, even before the coverage certificate arrives in the mail.
If you need to provide proof of coverage to the school, NSO can e-mail/fax you that document so you're not stuck waiting on the mail. But they can't do that until you actually get the insurance.
Best of luck in school!

When I got my initial coverage as a CNA I think my application was approved in less than 48 hours, and confirmation was e-mailed to me before I received the paper certificate.

I had CM&F as a student as required by the school and continued once I passed NCLEX. Had the certificate of insurance immediately upon payment sent to my email address.
