How long have you been in the NICU???

Published

I was just wondering how long you guys have been in the NICU. Do you plan on staying in the NICU throughout your nursing career or do you have different plans? I have been out of the NICU for the last two and a half years, but will be returning in 10 days :)

I realized while I was away that my true passion is in the NICU. I guess absence does make the heart grow fonder.

Anyway, I was just kind of curious how long everyone has been in the NICU and if anyone has ever left temporarily.

I've been in the NICU for 24 years........no different for someone that's been here 1 year if you know what I mean

I have now been in the NICU for four months now and counting ......I started on my own with a resource person ....and I have had some terrible days.......lol......I am going to hang in there, the last day I worked I had a decent assignment and I got a lot of parent teaching done.....car seat testing done and I was able to really organize and provide quality care for my lil patients I was in the room with the growers and feeders....I had three babies. I basically need to get myself more organized when I work in the ICU part of the nursery. I am looking forward to having a productive time in the NICU and my goal still remains as stated earlier in this post............

I have been in NICU for 3 years and love it too death. I do plan on staying in it for a long time. I plan on getting my advance degree for clinical nurse or practitioner. Now I am learning all I can in this rewarding field. I love this area :-)

I have been in the NICu 3 years and I love it. Sometimes it is hard...but most of the time it is just wonderful. I think I will stay untill I get old and tired.

I have been thinking about taking a break and going back to university to learn something more and see something else.
