How long for NCLEX-PN results with criminal history?

Hi there...I just took the NCLEX-PN in California on 3/26/07. I also had a minor incident in the past which requires my results to go through the enforcement unit at the board. After speaking with the enforcement unit they told me it takes the unit 3-4 to receive my results plus however long it takes to process and send it out to me. They said I will probably have to wait at least 5 more weeks for my results (vice the typical 2-3 weeks my classmate have received theirs in). My question is: Is there anyone else out there with a criminal history and how did it effect the amount of time it took to receive your results? It just doesn't sound right that if results can be mailed out within 2-3 weeks, why would it take that long for the enforcement unit to receive them within the same building....Thank you...

Wow, now I really think I may have failed..I called back to find out if they send out the results the same day they are processed or, if they wait til the end of the week. The enforcement unit said, if you pass, they will "process" it and then send them to the "authorization (or authentication) unit", for final look over/approval, which could take another week or so, and then they send them out. If you fail, the enforcement unit will send out the packet that day saying you failed. If you pass, but, your package is still pending further documents or something, the enforcement unit will send a letter (same day they process your results) stating what is pending. So, when she said, "your results should be processed by Monday or Tuesday" is that it? Does that mean on Monday or Tuesday, she will be done and send out my failure packet? Maybe she was just speaking generally on where her part of the job ends and not implying that that would be the day they were going to be in the mail. What do you guys think???

tinamexdoll....from what I understand, the board receives the results within a day of taking the test. Then, our results just sit in the system as they process everyone's results in date order. If you don't have any criminal background stuff (unlike us), then, those people will send your results in the mail. This can take 2-4 weeks. Now, if it still has to go to the enforcement unit, as in our case, it will take the above 2-4 weeks to be processed (maybe this is where they double check/regrade the test) and THEN sent to the enforcement unit. Then, when the enforcement unit gets to their stuff in date order they will then either send out the fail results or pass results if you are still pending anything, or if they have everything they need, they will forward your passing results to the authorization or authentication unit (sorry I don't remember what it is called exactly). Then, this unit will do final verification/review (which could take another week) and they will finally send your results from that department. So, unfortunately, if the info they gave me is accurate, I am not expecting my results until maybe Wed/Thurs next week if I fail and then not until the following week if I pass. Hopefully this will be a good case of good things come to those who wait.

arin9020 i heard they can revoke or loose your license. but you need to follow up with them. good luck hope everything goes well.

Do hospitals give you a hard time,will they not hire you with one?

lizzyette it all depends if they do background checks and if it comes on your record. it just all depends. i applied for a agency they didnt do any kind of background check.

Nurse2bemom have you heard anything? I Called the boards and they said my results were mailed out today04/23/07. so anyday now. well keep me inform of any changes.

Tina...haven't heard anything new, just last week when they told me my results would be processed by Monday or Tuesday. So, we will see...hopefully you will get them no later than Wed!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Please let me know how you did...

OK...so I just called the board and they said my package has been processed and sent to the analyst dept. to review and determine my eligibility for a license. When they are done, they will send my results. Sooooo, I'm hoping this means I passed! BUT, I'm also hoping they will approve me for a license! It just sucks, cuz, even if I pass, they could still deny me. Oh well, if they do, I will definately fight it. I just do not want to have to take that test again!! AAAHHH! I just want this wait to be over. I hope we both passed. At least you will have your answer soon! Let me know.

now i am nervous, because you said if one fails they send them out that day. but they pass a week later. they told me they mailed mine out yesyerday. well i am calling them now to ask them questions.

I called the boards they said they go to enforcement if there is an issue or fingerprint problem. when i talked to someone on friday she said it was in enforcement and before we issue you your license we want to make sure you are no threat to society. so i dont know what to think. im thinkinking when i called last tuesday it was in enforcement. maybe by friday they were reviewing it and sent it out monday. now im nervous.
