I'm a recent new grad RN, and I'm job searching. I have a feeling I will have a few job offers this month which leads me to my question...
We all know how difficult it is to find a job (at least in my area, PNW), if I get my first job, how long is it expected I stay with that job? I have a feeling my first job will not be "ideal", although I will be grateful with it. If I get another job offer that is better and more fitting of my goals, can I quit the current job?
What is the norm, expected, and what will look bad on my resume?
I want to take any job offered, but don't want to be stuck if something better comes along!

My first job requested a 2 year commitment. I stayed for almost 5.

I would try to stay for at least a year, preferably two.

Give it a year no matter what comes up. I had a great offer 6 months in and I left. My new job was outside the hospital and I didn't think I'd ever go back to the hospital but circumstances changed and now I'm having trouble getting back in. So stay at least a year.
